The MDA Touch Plus 2...?

Gotta love anonymous tipsters! :D

An internal t-mobile document showing the planned phone range for Summer 08 (being July-September) shows two interesting devices.

The first is the Vario IV which now announced has a better chance of a July-September release. The second a new device to appear is the MDA Touch Plus 2! There are no specs linked to the device but I believe this is going to be the Diamond with slide out keypad like the original Touch Plus. Should be interesting given that its scheduled for a summer release!

Thin on details indeed, but if HTC CAN get the 12/20 key Diamond out soon there will be a lot of happy campers!

I totally love the Touch Plus (my wife uses one), but the lack of GPS and WiFi puts me off. If they can keep the HTC Titanium (it's code name) relatively svelte (i.e. thinner than the Touch Pro!), then this will be a very compelling device indeed...

So if you have the choice of the Touch Diamond, the Touch Pro and the Touch Diamond Dual (or whatever it ends up)... what would you choose? I think we should assume the specs on the Titanium will be like the Diamond rather than the Raphael...

ooooooooooooooo. It. Just. Got. Interesting!

Does the titanium have an SD slot? And are the rest of it's spec comparable to the Touch Pro? ROM/RAM/CPU/Camera etc...if it all matches up and the only difference is the 12/20 slider vs. qwerty then it really is a touch choice.

PS.

I know...dreadful pun/typo.

As I say, I would think it is more diamondish than raphaelish spec wise.

Who knows tho! :D

Well, if the Raph is of better spec, I would probably lean that way.

Extra RAM for running apps is always nice. WinMo is great, but it does suffer from slow down when you get a couple of things going at once.

Where does this rumor come from?

Like was mentioned... tough choice :D. I always figured I needed a numeric keypad, but a qwerty might be nice as well... It will depend on the final specs though. If the battery is like the Diamond, and at has no microSD, I would tend towards the Touch Pro. And there is still the Xperia of course.

I bought a Touch Dual after Paul said it was probably the best Pocket PC phone out there. Although the Vario III is very impressive, I still feel it is too bulky to be pocket friendly and I don't like the keyboard. So, the Touch Dual with a 20 key slide out keypad has fitted my needs very well, with an iGo bluetooth keyboard for proper data entry. My Touch Dual goes everywhere with me and I hardly notice I am carrying it.

If HTC can bring out a Touch Plus 2 with a 2.8" VGA screen, plenty of RAM and a faster processor with video capability at the same weight, it would be a real winner, IMHO!

I agree too, though I'd really wish some specs will be more towards the Touch Pro than to the Diamond, i.e., 1350 mAh battery, microSD-slot. But then hopefully thinner than the Raphael. Maybe the keypad will have room for a 'start' and 'ok' key even :D. But now I'm just fantasizing.

Has there been any further news yet with regards to a release date?

Spoke to some guys in the Orange shop a few days ago and they were totally clueless about it.

It all seems to be very quiet with regards to the Titanium release.... really hope its worth the wait.

The Touch Dual without doubt has been my favourite device, and I've had pretty much all the Orange WinMo devices since the first SPV.
