Guest deanparkr Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 (edited) From Mobile-ent.biz Eighty per cent cut indicates just how exorbitant previous price points were. From July 1st T-Mobile will slash the cost of internet access from a handset or laptop mobile broadband connection while roaming in the EU from £7.50 per megabyte to just £1.50. The reduction comes in the same week EU commissioner Viviane Reding railed against the cost of data roaming in Europe and off the back of GSMA research that showed European data roaming traffic had jumped by 75 per cent. The fact that T-Mobile can lop 80 per cent off its data charges and presumably still make money indicates that current rates were exorbitantly high. http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/30746/T-Mob...roaming-charges :D :( :o Edited June 20, 2008 by deanparkr
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 No deets on the promised flat rate deals tho? P
Guest Confucious Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 It certainly makes using data abroad a possibility now tho. I'd still prefer flat rate but it's a step in the right direction!
Guest tsutton Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 But £1.50 a MB is still costly, tho... Still, better than £7.50!!
Guest Confucious Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 At £1.50 checking emails etc if you're abroad for a couple of days is cheaper than Wifi at the hotel (I hope!)
Guest pd.ryder Posted June 21, 2008 Report Posted June 21, 2008 This is good news - I'm off to Tenerife in August and this means I won't need to cripple my Hermes while I'm away. :D
Guest deanparkr Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 Its definitely good news. Its a shame it doesn't extend out of the EU though!
