Guest moveandfire Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 Exactly what it says in the title... Vodafone UK have made the 6.1 firmware available via their website for the v1615 (aka the HTC Kaiser). You can grab the update from this page (instructions included in the download), and read more about it on the Vodafone forums here. Let us know how you get on with the upgrade too :D [Edited for News by Paul (MVP)]
Guest hotphil Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 (edited) That is good news! :D Let us know how it goes. At least now I can flash back to an official ROM if the IT Dept ever want their phone back. And welcome too For those who might know about radio versions and such things, the filename is RUU_Kaiser_VF_UK_3.28.161.1_radio_sign_25.83.40.02_1.65.16.25_Ship.exe Is it worth me having? Guest chucky.egg Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 Ahh, just too late for me I de-branded and put TLRs 6.1 ROM on the other day. No plans to "downgrade" to a Vodafone ROM
Guest shirozina Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 At last! - I'll do it tonight and see what happens. Is it neccecary to do a hard reset before or does the upgrade process do this for you?
Guest hotphil Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 If you download the file, there's a pretty good instruction file. You don't need to hard reset first.
Guest moveandfire Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 Put it on last night and it went without a hitch. I did do a hard reset before hand just to reduce the chances of anything going wrong. But as mentioned earlier, the provided instructions didn't ask you to perform this. Its got the same Vodafone branded bits and pieces with it. However I've have noticed a few performance improvements: -GPS seems to lock a lot quicker that the previous version -When the phone is used in speakerphone, the mic seems to be more responsive (going off my other half when I called her this morning) -Battery seems to last longer too (in spite of playing around with it more after the update :D) Not sure of the threaded SMS yet but I know it can be turned off easily enough. Overall, I'm happy with the update and will probably stick with it for the sake of the warranty (only got it in May).
Guest shirozina Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 The update was easy - seems slightly more 'snappy' and I guess it's good to have the latest. My fingers are crossed that it may work better with my Clarion handsfree adpter in the car but somehow I doubt it. They say that holding a mobile phone is a dangerous distraction while driving but it's nothing compared to repeatedly stabbing your finger on the dash mounted control to get it to pickup and then leaning forwards against the seatbelt to shout into the mic so the other person can hear. Then not being able to properly end the call so both phone and headunit become frozen and the only solution is to turn off the ignition - Clarion BLT373 bluetooth adapter what total pile of junk! ( rant over).
