Backup PIM / SMS Messages prior to 6.1 upgrade

Hi All

TYTN II is going to be blatted, but I was kind of looking for a freebie SMS backup / restore software that would work under 6.0 and restore to 6.1

OS is there a simple PIM file I can transfer to my SD Card and restore back once the 6.1 upgrade has done.

I have close to 2,600 text messages and I would like to retain

I don't know of a freebie, but I use Jeyo Mobile Companion - works well.

Doesn't PIMBackup over at xda-dev do this? Worth a follow-up anyway - as it's free.

Yeah I used Pim Backup on Friday, worked fine.

I am not an XDA Member, is there another way to obtain the freebie, without registering?

Yup, that sounds like it. When you run it, it will have a set of check boxes down the left hand side which allows you to select "Calendar, SMS, Messages, Tasks" etc.

Anything else I should be aware of before going to WM6.1 for HTC TYTN II

if you have never flashed a device before ... read XDA developers guides, and the info on here ... understand it ... and then read it again!
