Guest SkyRocker Posted July 11, 2008 Report Posted July 11, 2008 Hello all, new to the forums, quick question not found by searching: Is there an alarm out there that will turn the Blackjack 2 on when it's off? I'm not used to keeping my phone on all night, and the wake up alarm, or any of the others, doesn't seem to work with the phone off. I've been using my phone(s) for my wakeup alarm for the last 4-5 years, latest one a Nokia E62 and this Blackjack is the first one I've had that you seem to have to keep on for the alarm to work. Thanks in advance!

If that's the case you can just create an appointment called "sleeping" or something for the whole time you sleep and set your ringer profile to "auto". When it's on auto it switches to silent mode for any busy time. you'll want to have it come out of silent mode before it's time for the alarm though.

Mostly a charging issue, it's on all day and I have trouble keeping it charged up as it is, I like to keep it off at night so I don't have to worry about charging it as often.

Can anyone just CONFIRM that I'm right about the Blackjack not being able to turn itself on for an alarm? I just got the phone 2 days ago and want to know if I'm doing something wrong. In 10 years, I've never had a phone that *doesn't* turn itself on for alarms. If it doesn't, no big deal, I love the phone I'll deal, just looking for confirmation. Thanks

Now that I think of it, except for 1 for a very brief time (a Siemans), in the last 10 years, I've only had Nokia's so that's probably why I'm so used to that feature. Puts things in perspective, but I do love the phone so far everything else about it is great, so I'll live with it.

I charge it at night, but I follow this procedure religously as sometimes the alarm app fails when the phone just sits around with its memory all clogged by the day's work. Turn the radio OFF (aka 'flight' mode) Turn Bluetooth OFF Set the alarm ON and to the desired time (not necessary if you always wake up at the same time) Turn the phone OFF Turn the phone ON VIOLA! the phone's memory is clean, so it will work reliably, and with no radios on it will draw almost no power once the display cycles off. FYI I charge mine at night anyway. I use a really nice looking charger stand you can get at Brookstone (in the US) and other places too. Guest mcalabrase Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 Check out some of the "Call Blocking" software... they range from $10 - $20 but I've seen 2 of them that have a setting to "block all" calls between certain hours (so if your worried about the ringer at least that will be settled)... as for the charging as the others have said, just make sure nothing running before you go to bed, and it's a good idea to check the task manager a few times a day to shut down anything you haven't used in a while, besides saving the battery it will free up memory and make your performance better.
