Guest LeiChat Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 On my MiniS (Wizard) as I typed the recipients name it would offer up matches, like T9, but for contacts. It doesn't seem to do that on the Diamond, I'm having to click menu and "check names". The annoying thing is, it's trying to use T9 for the names I'm typing in and it rarely gets it right. :D Have I missed an option somewhere or is that no longer part of Windows Mobile ?
Guest jimbouk Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 It works on completed words only, when using the compact qwerty.

Cheers, had an play and it appears you can select different input methods for different bits. Turning T9 off for the name/number bit and it'll show suggested contacts. If you pause after a couple of characters it'll kick in, or as you say when you complete a word/name. The best bit though is when you move to the message body it'll switch to whatever input method you chose. Doesn't switch keyboard type though, that would have been rather clever.
Guest Exodia Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 Thank you for this. Ive been trying to figure this out for months now on my original Touch (with diamond keyboard). :D

Hello, I've same problem with my Diamond and original rom. Contact autocomplete doesn't work with the standard keyboard (coming from windows mobile). When I use a keyboard from HTC (full or compact) autocomplete works. Any idea ?
Guest Kushmir Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 (edited) You might like to have a look at this thread which describes a registry change to turn word completion on. It works well for completion of contact names in SMS, but I found the way it works on text and the way it adds words to its dictionary within a document irritating, so I have now turned it off!
