Guest The Undefeated Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 It says that if you have GPS enabled then it will use that to find your location, otherwise it will triangulate with the telephone towers. It says I'm about 3/4 of a mile from my current location (and sometimes, almost 2) so I guess thats not the GPS. Apart from selecting 'Use GPS' is there anything else I need to do, or is google maps just ignoring it <_
Guest tsutton Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 If you enable "Use GPS", it should work. However if it doesn't work, try changing the settings to COM4 and 4800 baud. See how you go with that.
Guest The Undefeated Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 (edited) Wait, there it goes. It must have lied the previous 6 or 7 times it started up GPS, because now it actually says it has 4 (satellites i assume) and the spot is right on my house. I'm not entirely certain what its doing, but i do need to update the ROM, it's on1.37. What are we up to now? 1.9ish? Damn, that ain't above my house, thats above my room, its about 3 meters off. Guest Neil5459 Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 I had to change mine from Auto to Manual GPS detect (COM4 and 4800) before it saw the GPS receiver
Guest Espensodal Posted July 25, 2008 Report Posted July 25, 2008 I wonder why it doesnt work automatic? mine works flawlessly with automatic settings, and it has pinpoint accuracy. i took my phone fishing yesterday, and used garmin to adjust speed, and google satelite maps for location. it easily sensed my 2.1 knots speed (about 4 km/h). And google maps was amazingly accurate. GPS even works inside :D
