Guest tsutton Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 The Eee PC 1000 has arrived in the UK - anyone getting one? Looks cool... but the price tag is a little high. And it's not a laptop this time.
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 Looks nice, I like that fact it comes with a 6 cell. Does anywhere have stock yet? Might try and OSX one :D P
Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 In my vain search for an Advent 4211 I had looked at the EEE 1000 series. Rather tempted by them ... depends if anywhere has one in stock, and how it compares to a 4211 in terms of spec.
Guest Dark Horse Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 I love these little beauties, you can just buy the Linux ver that has more storage and then stick Windows on if need be, Asus even give you instruction on how to do this! Excellent value for money kit, especially if you get one without VAT but they're very hard to track down. Dixons Duty Free only ever seem to have a couple that sell out almost immediately. I've been trying to buy a few 900's now for a while and it seems the only way to bag one is to call ahead before you travel. http://www.eee-900.co.uk/ is useful for tracking down stock on the high street but not many places on that list which let you claim the VAT back at the airport.
Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 Just called Clove Technology, and they are allowing you to order the 1000h model, which is the one id want ... BUT ... they are anticipating stock within 2 weeks.

BUT ... they are anticipating stock within 2 weeks. I bought the 1000HE from America. $350, Intel Atom processor, 160GB hard drive and 7 hour battery life (It lasts for about 6 hours). The keyboards also very usable. Great deal, and very fast. I tried all the netbooks in bestbuy and this was by far the fastest. It came with windows XP, however I may try some of the other operating systems. I wonder what Vista would be like on it.. Probably not good!
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted May 8, 2009 Report Posted May 8, 2009 Worth a go. And welcome back after a long silence :D
Guest 40th Floor Posted May 31, 2009 Report Posted May 31, 2009 Unplug the ethernet cable and the ethernet powers down for about another 10% run time. I leave it with xp home because it a)does what it needs to (networking is a litle punky), and b) the drivers are already there for getting the most time out of thing. And I think it's very fast, too, 2-D graphics-wise. Audio is superb, or plug in a USB audio device and get multichannel (2.1) for even better. That's a 1000HA in the snapshot. Ooo. full-size snapshot. Lots more in the user guide.
Guest baldoski Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 Just had my Eee PC a couple of days ago. Just wondering how to use my Omnia as modem for it. Heard its possible with WMRouter and ICS.. Any feedback...
