No 3G on Orange with Diamond despite having it before on Touch

I just got a Diamond from Orange yesterday, it came with the generic software, not the Orange rubbish. However on trying to watch my mobile TV subscription which I've had for over a year I get informed I have no 3G coverage. The symbol in the top right hand corner of the screen is a G instead of an H or 3G. I never had this problem with my Touch, does anyone know why I might be having it with the Diamond and how I can resolve it? I pay £8.99 for the mobile TV subscription so I don't really want it to go to waste!

The radio on Orange Diamonds seems fairly weak.

I am reading up on flashing radio roms to see if there's a better one.
