I've just noticed taht my Diamond dosen't seem to disconnect from 3G after use. I just used it to check the weather and after it had updated teh report it was still connected to 3G. I had to select the connection and manually select disconnect. As i've only just got the phone and havent had an account number i cant check my billing online so am not sure of the data rates. But, if i have to pay for 3g use, surley by not disconnecting this is gonna cost me? Can i set it to automatically disconnect after say 10secs of no use? I don't want to disable teh 3G as i do find it useful, i just want to make sure it disconnect after use and isnt left conencted (would also save battery power too then)

you are only charged by the data sent/received. being connected but not actually doing anything won't cost you.

That's normal behavior for a windows mobile (or any?) phone. If you set the "hang-up long press" setting to show menu or terminate data connection that will disconnect it.

Also, 3G is different to GSM connections in that you get charged for the data you use rather than the time you're connected for. So once it's finished updating you're not charged unless something else is using the internet.

Finally, if you're on Orange £35pm contracts or above you've got 500Mb of free internets, which should be enough for updating the weather.
