Guest deadphill Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 Windows live mesh is a very handy application Microsoft are making whereby you receive 5GB of storage in the cloud to use for synchronisation between different computers. For instance you may have some files you want to be able to use at home and while you are at work, or indeed you are round a friends house and you dont have your laptop with you. Windows Live Mesh enables you to create, copy, delete and modify files in your storage space and synchronise these between all your devices with the client installed, as well as being able to access your files from the web. Add this in with being able to use remote desktop on the clients you have installed and you have one cool application. And now its available for Windows mobile, as well as other mobiles with browsers. Point your browser to https://m.mesh.com Its not the all in one client I have been waiting for, I am sure this will arrive later, but it does allow you to log on and access your files. Oh and no there is no remote desktop, nor will it ever likely have one that is web based for mobiles! Remember this is in beta form at the moment and there will be changes in the future. I find this application very handy and am looking forward to the future changes/developments that are sure to come. Enjoy! Cheers Phill
Guest ljames28 Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 Hasn't this been available right from the start of the beta?
Guest deadphill Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 Only found out about it this morning. On the mesh site it has always said, coming soon! Plus other tech sites have started to report it so no I don't think it has been. Though I could be wrong. Cheers Phill
Guest ljames28 Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 It's still "coming soon" for mobiles, i think what they mean is the websites always been around but the application for smartphones is still coming soon. I may have imagined visting the website though after i saw screenshots.
Guest deadphill Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 Well I didnt even know of its existance other than browsing other tech sites. Then looked for myself and true enough it was there. Got to admit, I hope WM has the upper hand with this kind of program. Would be a shame to hand something over to the opposition. Cheers Phill
Guest RobertCeuppens Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 I went to sign up but it is full up :D You can sign up for an email when a space becomes available. Any one already on it? Rob.

Rob. hmm, i signed up yesterday and got access immediately. So far i am not so impressed; the desktop version allows only to upload one file at each time; multi upload is not yet supported. Uploading was also slow despite having a 24Mb/sec down and 2.5Mb/sec upload. But hey it is still beta and i am confident it will become a much better service.
Guest El Boyo Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 does anybody else get the 00000040,5 error code when trying to connect to another pc?

Yeah, I've been beta testing Live Mesh for nearly 2 months now, and have seen several iterations of the software. VERY pleased with it! It gets better and better, and with the newest release you can even sync peer to peer, which is an incredible achievement. Somebody managed to sneakily download an alpha release of the mac client, which i am eagerly awaiting as I use PCs and Mac laptops and this could be the offline-capable solution I've been looking for to sync up my files. C
Guest deadphill Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 Yes from what I heard they accidentally managed to post the mac client for about 1 minute, yet someone still managed to download it in that time. Incredible! Cheers Phill
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 WHO ARE THEY! THEY MUST GIVE IT TO ME! :D P
Guest bigjim Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 Hey everyone, Ive managed to register and log on, using both my PC and my v1415. However, while i can download using my phone, and save a test picture, i cannot upload from my phone, i select add file, and it says "Please select a valid file name", problem is it does not open up another window to select a file to upload. Is this just my browser not being up to the task? Thanks a lot.
Guest Confucious Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 Looks like it. I just signed up and tried with Opera 9.51 on my Ameo and , although the file dialogue was very ugly, it did allow me to upload a pic.
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted August 4, 2008 Report Posted August 4, 2008 I thought it officially only worked for uploads with Pocket IE? P
Guest Confucious Posted August 4, 2008 Report Posted August 4, 2008 I thought it officially only worked for uploads with Pocket IE? P You don't expect me to read what it's supposed to do? I just tried it and it worked :D
