Dyno software for Pocket PCs?

Hi,

I've had pocket PC's/smartphones ever since the original SPV came out in the UK and love the variety of progams etc that you can get for them.

My latest phone is an HTC TYTN II on Orange so I have integral GPS. I've got TomTom working fine (which is great :D ) but I'm looking to get some software that can be used to log my journeys in a car, on a bike etc.

I've had a look around and got a few trials but nothing I've seen does quite what I want.

What I'd like is something that will record my speed about every 0.2seconds or more. Although a data point every second or more is fine for plotting long journeys, I also want to use it on a trackday as a way of plotting laptimes and compare different laps etc. Being able to come back into the pits and plot the circuit layout using the phone would be useful, especially if i could then reference speed onto the diplay somehow (maybe with colour??)

I'm not too fussed about the data processing side of the program as I'm happy to import it into Excel and play with it in there but I really need to find a program that will record my speed at high-ish frequency and then output the data points as a list with an equvalent timestamp.

A freind of mine has a Nokia with some standard software that seems pretty good for this and I believe that the iPhone has something called dynolicious which is a similar thing.

Does anyone know of any software out there for a Pocket PC that does this too?

Cheers,

Wingers

I contacted the Dynolicious company last week to see if they are willing to port it to Windows Mobile and they said they have no plans to do that "for now".

So could chnage in the future...

MoDaCo's Cameraware could be your best bit as you can export the data to Excel via their web based data tracking.

The problem is a 1Hz GPS rate (i.e. 1 reading per second) isn't very accurate for this sort of thing...

I've tried a few but haven't found anything that can output speed as a list of values, without having a 1Hz maximum data collection frequency.

I've done some more searching but there seems to be a fair number of "tracking" programs out there. It just takes a while to get through them.

What kind of data collection frequency are you looking for?

1Hz is a hardware limitation.
