No sound via earpiece when making calls!

Ive had my HTC Diamond for a few days now and love it!

When I receive a call I can hear the ringtone play but when i answer the phone I cannot hear the person calling via the earpiece. I have to goto loud speaker to hear them and then its really loud.

Am I supposed to hear a voice via the ear piece and if so any ideas on what I can do to ge tit working?

The volume buttons on the side control the call volume when in a call, so play with those to confirm there isn't some other more serious problem.

Thanks for that but it made no differnce.

Just spoken to Orange Customer Care and a replacement handset is turning up tomorrow.
