Sherweb Email Alias

I have a Sherweb Exchange account thats works very well with my HTC Touch and laptop.

I also have a Sherweb alias account (POP email).

I have the POP and SMTP email settings for Sherweb, however, they do not work on my Touch.

I recently updated to Windows Mobile 6.1 and forgot to document the mail settings.

I can not remember if I use the wireless carriers POP settings or SMTP settings for alias account?

My email comes into my exchange account, just need outgoing email capabilities for alias account.

Should I use SMTP settings for my wirless carrier and Sherweb POP settings or other way around?

Usually email providers will suggest that you use the SMTP server on your network (ISP) and if not, then use their SMTP server.

However some spam systems reject email where the mail address is not linked to the SMTP server sending it.

For example:

You're using Rogers wireless, but have a hosted exchange domain of hostedmail.ca. You then send an email using the Rogers SMTP server, it may get rejected because Rogers DNS is not matching that of the SMTP server for hostedmail.ca.

Personally I always try to route my mail out through the people who provide the email, but that's just my preference.

You may find that Sherweb need authentication details to allow you to send through their SMTP server.

Username: Your SAM Account name. You have this information in your MS Exchange Control Panel (Ex: user_domain.com) See the print screen for more information.

Password: Your password

Port: 587 (using SSL for Outlook 2003 and TLS for Outlook 2007)

Require Authentication: Yes. Use same settings as your incoming mail server.
