Guest sHAYMAN Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 Dont get excited, there isnt one out yet, but I rang T-Mobile technical support and registered the issues with the screen going off on call. The guy was very helpful and said he'd report the issue as feedback to htc immedietely. He also mentioned he'd noticed the error when playing around with a handset the other day I also mentioned the album art sync issues and made him aware that htc were already rolling out updates to the diamond. If we send a few calls through to them - hopefully they'll get an update rolled out sooner rather than later! :D

You just press the power button to get it back on for when you need it.
Guest SSR Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 I thought the screen going off was cited as a bug, that was fixed in the 1.93 ROM. Although I could have remember it incorrectly. Either way I have the 1.93 ROM and it does still go off mid-call. As mentioned above though it's not a biggie as I just press the power button.

I think the reason it goes of quickly is to save battery drain from the VGA screen.
Guest sHAYMAN Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 I'd hope its a bug - how it would be better is for the screen to go off once. Pressing the Power Button tells the Diamond - you want the screen on, unless pressed again.

Pressing the Power Button tells the Diamond - you want the screen on, unless pressed again. I don't think this is a bug, it's a "design feature". There is a registry hack to stop it doing so, (search xda-developers if you wnat to know what it is), but then you have the problem that your cheek tends to start various apps which isn't ideal either. I read somewhere that if you have the stylus out (and/or possibly if notepad is open) then the screen doesn't go off. I'm sure when I tried this it was in fact true and makes using the phone via headphones, particularly if you have to dial "1" for this and "2" for that etc, a much nicer proposition.

Cheers for that I'll give it a go - still would be nice to keep pushing TMobile to keep up to date with the new roms - performance boosts would be especially welcome
Guest JonStatt Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 The screen goes off to stop you accidentally pressing the screen with your face!!
