Guest estechco Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 Just wondered whether anyone had successfully managed to install Skype on their Diamond or Compact IV. I've tried installing to both the main device storage and Internal Storage and in both cases Skype just goes into a constant wait cursor when you start it up. With previous devices I always assumed it was because my processor wasn't fast enough but surely this can't be the case with the Diamond's 528Mhz CPU Any thoughts?

Yes, you are using the wrong version. Go to Skype and pick up the new version for MS 6.1, that one works fine.
Guest estechco Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 Brilliant - that's worked perfectly! I'd obviously downloaded before 31st July release which now supports WM6.1. Only one other peculiarity, is it meant to work only via the external speaker? When I ran the echo test it worked fine in what appeared to be speakerphone mode, but I couldn't hear my recording if I used headphones (although the output sound was fine in my earphones)...slightly weird, but still excellent!

That's a shortcoming with Skype. I've seen several different suggestions to fix it, but non worked so far. There's one cab file out there for Eten X800 which takes care of the problem on that device, but it does not work with the Diamond.
