Guest Simon Desser Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 There's no doubt that the Omnia's camera is fantastic! The interface is suberb, it's fast, and has some great extra features like face recognition and anti shake etc. etc. However, I'm also really impressed with the Touch Pro's camera  At the end of the day it's the final image quality that matters and the Touch Pro isn't far behind the Omnia even with less pixels :D In some respects it's better :D Colours are more true, more vivid and pictures are a little sharper and slightly punchier. The Omnia's flash is VERY powerful, but for close ups it bleaches out the subject. Here's some comparisons, resized so they're not enormous, and joined together, but no other editing. I've left the image sizes in proportion so you see the bigger size of the Omnia's pictures. Yes, the Omni's camera's the best I've seen on a WM device, but the Touch Pro's can certainly give it a run for it's money :(
Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 Thank you so much for posting those. I was pretty much set on the omnia due to the better camera .. but now im really not so sure! In some instances, the Touch Pro image looks better.
Guest fenomeno83 Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 sorry http://www.modaco.com/content-page/271210/...read/page/100/#
Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 Simon ... any chance of a couple of scenic shots as a comparison, all of the above are pretty close up ones. Just wondering how pixellated it may get at distance.

Just wondering how pixellated it may get at distance. Here's a quick outdoor comparison  The Omnia is definitely a little sharper, but I prefer the colours of the Touch Pro. If you look at the cropped image you can see the number plates are clearer on the Omnia, but there's also more image noise :D Tough call, the Omnia's probably got the edge but having said that pictures look twice as good on the Touch Pro's high res screen. :D
Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted August 17, 2008 Report Posted August 17, 2008 Cheers Simon, I think I agree with you there. Clearer image on the Omnia, but much more vibrant colours on the Touch Pro. I think I shall hold off on my upgrade for a short while, just to see if either handsets have teething problems. Cant keep spending money like a fool on toys!

I thought id upload some of my samsung omnia pictures, i have problem with panoramic it always says after it does a calculation thing it failed to do it :S also one of the pictures as you can see is not very clear, im not the best at taking pictures but im confused on whats the best settings for the camera, Macro seems fine as you can see from my parrot and statue.. but when taking pictures of non macro things like landscape it seems to have allot of "Noise"
Guest NickCy Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 Do you remember what settings you used (iso, saturation, sharpness etc.) on the carpark picture with the omnia? It looks very nice!
Guest bfyee Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 Do you remember what settings you used (iso, saturation, sharpness etc.) on the carpark picture with the omnia? It looks very nice! Omnia is the best to take picture than any window mobile
Guest Emexrulsier Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 Well I thought I would get in the swing and also post a few of my pictures I have taken on my Omnia. One of the main things I am impressed with is its ability to get a sharp focus when taking up close pictures. This is infact better than my 7mp Nikon Digital Camera. One thing I would say in anything other than perfect natural lighting this is where the camera starts to show it's weakness it really does need a lot of light for good vibrant shots. But anyways see below what you think of my images.
