Perfect Media Player for Omnia?

Hi, I had hoped I could use the nice TouchPlayer included in the Omnia as my main music player, but unexpectedly I can't use it because it does not support the OGG format (funny enough, WMP in the Omnia does, which is very unique). The issue with WMP is that it does not support the ID3 tags (showing the artist, genre, etc.), and the interface is not so nice (small buttons).

Therefore I am looking for a player that will have the following:

  • plays OGG
  • supports tags (any format... assuming I can convert my current tags to that format)
  • allows to easily select music by genre (like TouchPlayer and WMP do)
  • ideally also able to play video with subtitles (this would be a nice to have)

I have been trying PocketPlayer (nice player I have to say, but the interface is not so finger friendly when it comes to some tasks) and PocketMusic (nice interface, but not possible to easily select by genre). I have also had TCPMP in older PDA's, but I don't get it working on the Omnia.

Any tips or ideas?

Thanks in advance!

This is going to be too difficult... let me reconsider what I need...

Does anyone know what kind of TAGS are recognized by the Omnia (ideally the TouchPlayer, but WMP is also fine)?

I have been using PocketMusic 5.1 on my Samsung Omnia - I prefer it to the standard WMP and TouchPlayer as it has the graphic equaliser, but more importatly, carries on playing from where you left off in the playlist, especially usefull when you want to shuffle all the music in your 8GB memory...

However, I do seem to have one issue. I listen to my music on a pair of Jabra BT610S bluetooth earphones, and apart from the battery drain (4 hours of music listening tops, then the phone dies), I have been getting issues where the player will stop, and start, sometimes turning the display on (and so wasting more battery). It gets more frequent as time goes on, until finally, when it stops, it will not respond at all and a reboot is required.....

Has anybody else come across this? I have not attempted to use the player with standard earphones or the speaker for any length of time.

PS - with regards the battery usage, have just ordered a high capacity battery for the omni from ebay - 1500mAh instead of the standard 900mAh - will see what that gives me.

Are you sure yours is 900 mAh and not 1440 mAh? What "Batt_Type" is shown via *#0228# ?

Or just purchase and use the commercial version of TCPMP , Core Player it supports most formats for audio and video , but again not that nice of an interface.

Kinoma Play has a very nice interface and is my favorite player, but its a bit limited in supported formats.

I have both , but mainly use Core Player for video and Kinoma for audio (I use Flac format for audio files).
