Guest Dr Who Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 This has just been released in the states and the base model comes in at about £200 when bought in the states, as oppsed to £300 when it is released in the UK. A friend is going to New York very soon so I am toying with the idea of asking him to get me one. However, it only comes with a 3-cell battery, which is a bit of a bummer. But mainly I was wondering whether I might run into warranty issues? Lenovo is normally internationally supported IIRC? Also wondering whether having to carry a US-->UK plug adapter would annoy me. Could do some surgery but might not be tidy, particularly if it comes with a moulded plug and sealed power brick.
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 3 cell battery is killer for me... I would imagine the power brick is something pretty generic! P
Guest Dr Who Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 3 cell battery is killer for me... I think you might be right, sadly. Lenovo are not renowned for their cheap after sales products either, so that 6-cell battery will probably be half the price of the laptop! Hmmmm, Dell or Advent. Decisions, decisions.

Guest awarner (MVP) Posted March 22, 2009 Report Posted March 22, 2009 6-cell is about £61 so not too bad but would you really need a spare battery? I'm tempted to get one but need to do some overtime first.
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted March 22, 2009 Report Posted March 22, 2009 Lenovo S10e, 1.5GB RAM, 6 cell (Linux) for 259 inc! http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/control.../IdeaPad/Launch Ordered one, plan to put XP or W7 or OSX (or all 3) on it! P
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 I did post in the podcast topic about DABS advertising the XP version for the same price as the Linux version on the Levono site. Shame it can not have more than 1.5GB though but would media center/tv tuner etc make much of a difference? I would certainly look at vista being installed as I prefer the media center layout and usability. Also the Linux version is only available in white at the moment, I would prefer black but that is "out soon" aparently.
