Slow touch player with a lot of music ?

After adding a bunch of music to my i900 (about 9gigs worth i must add) I have noticed its not too fast moving when viewing the album details, in fact quite slow at times.

I do have every mp3 with embedded alum art which the omnia has separated as a image file. Also I noticed that the image art when clicked in the now playing screen zooms to the art in full screen. (H1 firmware)

My question is this, is my album art slow the player? Should I just use folder artwork?

Anyone else have this problem? I'm searching for a fix and its a pain its so slow now... :D otherwise my omnia is near perfection!

I exprience this too.. even i have put only one image for the album after i trasfer to omnia it automatic seperate to one image per song. so i think it might make the music serch very slow (in my opinion) everytime i put the new song in I must do update that take so long why its not just do like a iphone. I think samsung should do something about this bug

I have about 8GB too, its slow. Put it down to being on the SD card.

I also have about 3GB of films but they run fast..

As much as I have art work in the MP3 folders, I'm using Win Media player to play and sort these.

It does them by list and only show the artwork once playing.. This makes it faster, but less glossy to search for albums.

Is there a way we can speed this up maybe, does it run faster without the album covers?

EDIT: Ok I found my problem, its a folder I have with 420 mp3's in it (1980s music lol) Once i removed that the touch flow player flys through the albums without lag.

The touch player doesn't seem to like folders with a lot of mp3's in it i think. It could also be because almost half of the tracks have different album art too. (Not all the same)

I will experiment with separating the mp3s into seperate folders if that helps, if not I will set only one album cover as the embedded art. will let you know.

OK fixed it, its caused by large embedded album art. I noticed that when i removed the art on a test it was lighting fast when moving from album to album. Using downsized artwork its fast

Edit: 300 x 300 is good, no lag now :D before I had album art sizes up to 800 x 800 etc, of course that lags the touchplayer to hell as it has to show that large res image as a small icon :D

Thanks for the research, Hendrickson!

I have never used album art for my mp3's... could you please shortly describe how it works? How do you add them to the mp3's? Can you have 1 album art per album or is it within each file? Any software I can use to get the album art?

Thanks in advance for your tips!

(btw, I have almost 700 mp3's in 1 directory, and that navigates fine with TouchPlayer!)

I am struggling with Album Art through TouchPlayer.. I Have album art for all my mp3 and if use MediaPlayer the art shows up correctly, I can also see the art if i go into Photo slides.

BUT if i open Touch Player all my MP3s show album art as purple swish effect.. This is on the T-mobile Omnia.. any ideas? I've never had a problem with album art and S2P also detects it okay..

Thanks

Mark

Maybe a stupid question, but have you updated the library within TouchPlayer? What this does is create a separate jpg file with the Album Art... which is apparently needed to show the pics.

Hi.. good question.. I did double check but yes that is how it found the music in the first place.. I can't see that it has created any extra jpgs.. I have an album_art_{numbers}.jpg but I think this is a Windows Media format?

People are reporting that without the jpg files you don't get any Album Art, so that can be the reason... next question is... why doesn't it make the jpg's? Maybe your card is protected?

All I done was add one jpeg to each folder and called that jpeg folder.jpeg.

In windows on your PC, you can then change the view so each folder shows the cover art.

When I transfered this to my omnia and updated, all the art appeared.

I solved my album art problem, See thread about creating album art.

However, with my album art named folder.jpg (about 4kb in size) and 8gb of music, scrolling album art view in Touch player in painful.

@Henderson - how much gb's have you in music, and is it this slow. I tried naming jpg to jpeg, but jpeg extension didnt show album art in Touch player.

Its slow and painful, but I found if you update and search for more music it like caches the player and its fast again, strange i know

@Hendrickson. Thanks for the great tip. Works a treat now. Really happy. I have a perfect i900 , and perfectly tuned to my needs with all my games and apps installed.

Been playing around with this today...

Embedded Art work deleted

In windows open your music folder, in folder view options show hidden files and untick hide protected operating system files.

Deleted any Artwork files.

Returned folder option back to default.

Added folder.jpeg to each folder, which contained the album picture.

Uploaded music to Omnia.

Updated Library in touch player and WMP

Search through entire album folder, seems to be ok in speed for searching.

Opening a album and getting the track list takes about 4 seconds.

Playing the song takes less than a second.

Edit: I have all my music stored on the SD card and not the phone memory. This should give me some sort of delay.
