Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 I notice on the TechGuys site, the Advent 4211 bios 1.08 has been released ...but it tells me I dont have permission to view the file! Anyone else managed to download it?
Guest mwright Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 I get a page full of file access errors - guess they have not quite got the update setup yet?
Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 Thanks for checking too.

Guest taffy78 Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 I had problem with my advent 4211 charging, i only bought it last week and was told to run bios update, after that it wouldn't charge properly, was taking hours just to get a few %. I've downloaded the link off "Wayneit" and installed the BIOS v1.08 and it seems to have sorted the problem out, its charging as i type and its gained 10% in as many minutes, so thanks for the link, much appreciated :D

Advent Splash screen, latest available, activation/slp info, everything. To run the update - -extract the files to the desktop -make sure psu is connected and run "runflash.bat" -read the prompt and if you agree press enter -now leave the unit if you get no message stating the bios update was succesful after 10 mins power off the unit -turn back on and enter the bios to confirm the upgrade NB if your keyboard or mouse do not respond after the update, disconnect the psu and battery, hold power button down for 10 secs then power unit back on Edited September 3, 2008 by wayneit
Guest taffy78 Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 (edited) Just a quick update, in 40mins i've gone from 43% to 77% battery power in, so all seems to be ok now. Also I just ran the runflash file, just like with the V1.05 update Edited September 3, 2008 by taffy78
Guest adventus Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 I have the updated BIOS version 1.08 feel free to check it out/verify its genuine Thanks for the link - what a relief after the inaccessibility of 1.08 on the Techguys site - here is my experience with the update, in case anyone else is curious: I downloaded this update from modaco after registering. The files are the same as the 1.05 update from the Techguys, with the exception of EN011IDI.105, which is replaced by EN011IDI.108 With a bit of trepidation I followed the Techguys flash procedure - ie remove battery and power the computer with the power supply, set the computer ro turn off when pressing the power button, run RunFlash.bat in Windows, agree to the caution, wait for the update to complete (the dos window closes after a few processes - takes around 20-30 seconds), turn off computer by pressing the power button (keyboard is disabled at this stage). Then wait 10 seconds before refitting the battery and booting into Windows. Windows finds some new hardware and then works as normal (phew). On checking the new bios I get: Bios Version: ENO11IDI ver.108; Build date:08/29/2008, 15:41:15; EC Version:NO11EMS7 ver.001; Build date:08/26/2008 Not sure of benefits yet, but I hope this stops the screen suddenly going blank problem and perhaps increase memory available to the graphics system.
