Data connection for using orangewap, not orangeinternet ?

At certain points of the day, I want to use WAP only, not full internet. This is because there are services I prefer on WAP.

I'd like to be able to use WAP thru the orangewap access point, not the orangeinternet access point. This should be in effect using WAP over GPRS, rather than full internet data (the GPRS bundle, instead of the Orange Access Pack - Wap over GPRS).

Does anybody know how to make WAP sites work. I can only do it if I set the data connections like this:

Internet connection: Automatic

Wap connection: Automatic

and when i go to 'edit connections > GPRS connection'

Orange GPRS is pointed to Internet, and Orange WAP is also pointed to Internet. I would like to be able to use WAP without having to go through all this, and through the Orangewap access point.

Any solutions to this anyone?

Internet connections

ORANGE CSD WAP

Work connection

AUTOMATIC

WAP connection

ORANGE CSD WAP

Works perfectly ;)

Make sure you have valid WAP favouites stored in the IE browser otherwise the pages will not be recognised.

eg, http://orange.multimedia

Thanks for that. I'm trying to use WAP over GPRS though - your settings are great for Dial-up WAP - but not GPRS.

Any ideas, apart from the ones I'm using. They work, but I have to keep switching them to use proper internet - e.g. checking mail.

I don't get it. Why can't you use WAP over the Internet GPRS connection? Why do you have to use the WAP GPRS connection? I can view both WAP and HTML sites and haven't changed any settings.

Or am I just being thick?

Barry

P.S. The only problem is if the site looks at the browser, sees it's a full HTML browser and those redirects you to the HTML version.

WAP connection

ORANGE CSD WAP

Er, CSD = dialup.

This means the phone is actually dialling up to access WAP?

If you're a heavy WAP user, then Orange is currently pushing a WAP "bundle"; 200 minutes of CSD Wap usage per month OR 10 megabytes of GPRS usage (the latter being by far better value; 200 minutes is <7 min per day, whereas 10 meg of what's essentially ASCII text equates to virtually unlimited use) the cost is £4 per month, first month free. Call 150 and ask for the "GPRS Wap Access pack".

The Orange GPRS SPV pack should allow you to access WAP anyway...

CSD WAP means it's dialling up to access WAP, which means you're being charged at standard call rates (I think) to access it.

Yup, but why care before April when the "unlimited" pack runs out? Or is that only available in the UK?

Yes, I've got it working (albeit sporadically) over GPRS internet access point, but the point is that it *should* work via the orangewap access point via GPRS and it does not.

Not an issue now, apart from messing around with the settings all the time which is inconvenient. But it will become an issue in May unless I get the settings right.

I just want to know the right settings, and Orange 156 just tell me to enter the wap settings that are already there!
