Guest Ian Williams Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 Morning all. I've posted this on MSIwind.net as well, but I wonder if anybody here can help? I powered up my machine this morning, & discovered a couple of problems; The resolution of the display had changed. The display just showed the desktop accross two thirds of the screen. The right hand side third was just black also, my speakers no longer work. Under the "Sound - system pref's" pane. It just says "No output devices found". My original OS X install was done using Paul @ modoco's guide. I've just re-installed all the back up extensions using the Kext Helper application, & repaired permissions. That's sorted out the display problem, but I'm still without sound. .....can anybody help?
Guest Velnor Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 If my machine runs out of power, then the display always reverts to 640x480 on the left hand with a black border on the right. To fix this problem I simply restart the computer and then it works. If that doesn't work for you, you could try repairing permissions and then choosing the advanced options in the kextinstaller program - to rebuild your boot cache. That works for me when the drivers go a bit flakey, which seems to be rather common. I try to not let the machine power down at all.
