Will Omnia really be successful?

Basically, I think the Omnia is a wonderful phone, but one reason that I think hinders it greatly is a lack of a developer community. Whilst the majority of people who buy these phones don't spend time updating their roms, or flashing cooked roms, or developing software, there are a lot of people who do this! The best example is XDA developers. If you look at how much development has been poured in the HTC diamond it makes you realise what a hardcore development community can do. I realise the Omnia is slightly newer and there has been less time for a community like that to open up, but that illustrates another point... Does XDA dev have so much momentum that it can't be caught up? If you want a device that you can customise and develop then you'll buy an HTC...

Do the Omnia users on here think that a development community will come up and start doing some really cool things for the Omnia? Or will it fall by the wayside? I hope that people do start deconstructing the omnia and start putting out cool software, because it seems that the Diamond has a funky new app developed every single day! I suppose it's about customisability and I think everything is behind the HTC devices when it comes to this. My fingers are crossed for the Omnia...

I'll be perfectly honest and say that I've just sold my HTC Diamond AND my Omnia. They are both great devices, and I actually think the Omnia is a little better straight out of the box (in terms of functionality), but I'm keen to see what the next 6 weeks will bring. But this is a moot point, I just want to show my impartiality!

I too would love a XDA Developers for the Omnia... However they have built up such a large gathering over the years, because HTC WAS THE mobile device.

It's too early so say if Samsung will be as popular as HTC (and i suspect it wont be). But its a great phone and someone over at XDA has already deconstructed most/all of the Samsung Omnia ROM and it's helped afew people on here already.

So Fingers crossed.
