This is really annoying. When you make a call it locks the screen and you have to press the joypad bit to unlock it.. annoying when trying to retrieve voice messages etc as you have to input kepad entries.. is there any way to stop this or delay it longer...

That annoyed me too when using my telephone banking. I'm not too sure there's much that can be done as I suppose there is the possibility of accidently pressing buttons. I think it'd be nice if there was an in-call toggle button that can switch it off for that particular call or something, for the times when you are using the buttons for anything.

Anyone knows of a registry key setting which would fix this problem ?

I agree, don't think Samsung thought this over, I forgot to pay my credit card bill the other day & my bank usually calls with an automated reminder, you pick up the phone, the computer on the other end identifies itself & tells me to press any key to continue, but I can't as the screen has locked itself with that stupid message telling me how to unlock it, so I press the middle button & the phone cuts off, happened 3x times that day ;)

With regards to voicemail I can't get started on that topic or I may do the phone some damage, I would love to hear the idiot that thought that option was a good idea explanation & testing procedures samsung used when they implemented this.

In my case another headache I think this is responsible for is I went out & got a £1500.00+ stereo system fitted to my car with integrated bluetooth handsfree, but can I use this phone in my car, or with my 2x motorola bluetooth hands free kits? No. Why because the screen keeps turning itself on with that stupid message  :( arggg I know what to do if i want to use my keypad :D arrrg so if i'm on a 30 minute call then by the end my phone is hot as hell & battery drained ( workaround was I gave samsung more of my hard earned money for a car charger)

there has to be a registry key to disable it as it's a samsung only feature, be dammed if I can find it though.

I don't think I'd be alone in saying "We do not like it, it doesn't work properly, we want the option to disable or remove it please".

ahhh,,,feel better now i got that off my chest, gonna send this to their tech & customer services & see what they have to say about it.

paul has written an application that does exactly what you guys need.

it's named something like "modaco omnia patched dialer".

use the search feature and you'll find it here.

i use it on my DXHK1 rom and it runs extremely fine!!!

good luck!

I have used it on several "official" roms and on Dr. Dot's. Just remember you need to do a soft reset to get it to kick in the first time. Then works great.

There is a big advantage of using this lock, and you will know it as soon as you remove the lock by Paul fix. If you remove the lock and put the phone on your ear/cheek , you will find that you are operating some of the functions available by accidentally touching the screen while on your cheek.

Screen is very sensitive and that is one of its merits.
