WM 6.1 Upgrade - USB Internet won't work

For some reason, now that I've upgraded to WM 6.1, I can't use the internet while I'm tethered to the computer through USB. It works fine over the air, but as soon as I plug into the computer, it won't let me connect or anything.

Anyone know why? This happened on two BJ2s.

when your computer recreates the connection all of your setting get reset so you have to go back in to activesync/mobile device center and re-enable it

..........this was the old procedure:.....................

Step1: Make sure your device is app unlocked!!**(see below note!); run secpolicies.cab first if unsure or the certs won't take!!

**run this cab and reboot; http://sems.org/content/download/secpolicies.cab"

Step2: RESET THE DEVICE!

Step3: Install the BJ.WM6.ICS.Enable cab file (it might ask you to reboot)

http://www.mdots.net/misc/BJ.WM6.ICS.Enable.cabhttp://www.mdots.net/misc/BJ.WM6.ICS.Enable.cab

Step4: navigate to \My Documents and click on the certs.cab file

Step5: RESET THE DEVICE!

Step6: go to start and run internet sharing

........NOW.................................................

but with WM6.1, I noticed the internet sharing program is already installed and that under settings>more>connections>gprs - all of them are locked and think this has something to do with why internet sharing / tethering isn't working anymore now that we have 6.1

i cant get usb tethering to work now with wm6.1 either.... ;)

.......found on another post this info:...............

the ATT IMS and MEdia Net entries in the connection settings dialog are locked/read only and won't let you edit them,

But if you navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections\

There will be 2 keys in there. one for ATT IMS,ATT ISP and MEdia Net.

In those keys there will be a value of "ReadOnly".

Change the value for these from "1" to "0" and reboot your phone.

These connections should now be editable on your phone under settings>connections>GPRS.

Hi Salado,

Do you know if anyone has yet got ICS via bluetooth working reliably with non AT&T carriers. Mine works intermittently with virgin mobile Australia but not reliably.

Thanks

Hi mobelby

I'm just trying to get virgin broadband going here in Australia right now and am struggling to get it working.

I've set USB connection to modem but when I try and start ICS get the error "the remote party has ended this connection"

Any advice help?

Any settings I can check/confirm?

Cheers

i finally got mine to work. you have to change the registry setting for media net to 0. just follow the steps in the earlier post. then the only way i could get mine to work is set phone to activesync instead of modem. it works perfectly now.

in ie go to tools options and connections and check automatically detect settings thats how i got mine to work.
