Guest infiniti359 Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 I recently upgraded from a M3100 to the Touch Diamond and have just installed Tomtom 7 (with one free map from the website). I was wondering if I'm going to be charged any extra on my contract each month for using the satnav software. I mean, if I brought a satnav from a shop for £200 and started using it, i'm not being charged any extra....am I.... I just have to be sure. Once I know, that I'm not being charged, I'll start going nuts with it :D
Guest andybarker Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 I can't see how anyone can tell that you are using it, so they can't charge you. Only thing you could potentially be charged for is any data transferred - but I can't see why TomTom would do that.
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 Welcome to the site :D The only data charge that may happen is updating the camera database and if you subscribe to TomTom Traffic. Apart from that there is no charge for using the software as is.

If so, then no, I've no use for it, and i'm not subscribing to TomTom Trafic (that I know of...) The only thing I did was downloaded the program, and the free map, and I'm good to go! Hey and thanks for the welcome :D

Once I know, that I'm not being charged, I'll start going nuts with it :D Be warned, however, that unless you got your Diamond through a German contract (which I doubt), the softare that you have probably downloaded, as I did, is not supprted by TomTom and considered by them as illegal. I had this discussion with them when I tried to upgrade some of my old maps via tech support and they very quickly twigged that I can't have obtained the software directly from my network supplier (T-Mo). Although not totally draconian, they did suggest I should wait for them to officially release v7 of the software, before calling back. Whether this basic software will come free of charge is, I suspect, highly questionable.
