Guest Daymo7 Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 hi guys anyone might to solve the delay ringtone problem. i tried change the value of the control panel/ringtone value from 3 to 0 but i'm still having the delay. Im having this problem and have searched a number of websites but to no avail. Is there anyone out there in Omnia land who has solved this problem. Many thanks ;)
Guest CoolHotCold Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 Is it that slight delay where the first tone is about half the usual ring?
Guest phillipxenxciel Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 mine ring begin with low volume then turn into high volume too~~
Guest Daymo7 Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 (edited) Ok I have just been on to Samsung customer services and am confused with the information I have been given about this problem. They have told me that the delay in sound on the ringtone is because the phone is built this way to protect the speaker? It takes 2 to 3 seconds for the phone to evaluate the ringtone volume before it sets it at normal, they say this is done so it doesnt blow out the speaker???? Im a noob but this seems ridiculous. Why doesnt it just set every ringtone at a normal volume from the start?? Is there somebody out there with a bit more knowledge than me, advise is there reason.... reasonable?? Guest awarner (MVP) Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 Does not sound quite true to me. If ringtone volumes can be set then why would the device decide what was best for you? If the speaker was not designed for loud volumes then is could be altered to restrict the max output. Real time ring volume monitoring? don't think so.
Guest Daymo7 Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 Yes thats what I thought too. Can anyone on here advise if an mp3 ringtone they have actually works correctly without the delay. I basically think I have been fobbed off by Samsung ;)
Guest Dark Horse Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 The very same thing happens with my Samsung i600 running WM5, maybe it's the same with all their devices?
Guest deadphill Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 I thought this was a WM thing not necessarially device specific. For every WM phone that I have had at least, it takes 2-3 rings before I hear a ringtone. And even then, when I click on answer, it doesnt do it for about 2-3 seconds, which can be a pain when its just before it goes to voicemail. Cheers Phill

Guest pidsw Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 After many tweaks to my Titan I had it it ringing by the first ring that callers heard. Also, by disabling the dialer skin, it would response to the talk button almost immediately. However on this phone I was able to set the Cell Tower Polling frequency, I do not know how to do that on GSM devices. I currently have my Omnia's ring script set to av1pr, which causes a vibrate for 1s before the ring. The first ring is unchanced in volume (starts out quiest then gets louder) so I don't think that it the excuse provided holds water. Some things that I plan to try: - Is it AT&T? I wonder if there is a way to check on another network with someone else sim card. - Is it searching through too many contacts to find what to display? I may try deleting them all to see if there is a difference? - Do personalized ring tones make a difference? How about pictures? - Is there a way to disable these? or to defer the check until after the first ring? - Is there a way to change the number of rings prior to voicemail? - Are raw Waves faster than Mp3?
Guest BAZIL Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 Hullo, I have bought a HTC Diamond for my wife ( it stucks sometime, never respond and needs to be resetted, and some applications are not so userfriendly etc and we will buy an Omnia ;) ) and it has the same operating system u know; 6.1... The delaying of the ringtone is one of its bugs too. Maybe its the problem of the WM6.1..? Any suggestions?
Guest pidsw Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 Most of the optimizations that I found I have only been able to do on the Titan where I can control Cell Tower polling frequences. Three helpful ones, each has its compromises; - Short fast ringtone. Preferably .wav or a Mp3 <= 40k in size - Disable phone canvas (default loads fastest) - use av1pr as your ringtone script. Or apv1r. One vibrates first, the other rings first. They both have some latency. Disabling pushmail may help. Activesync disconnect when done =1 may help. Ensure to close all apps in the task manager when you are idle. remove services that you don't need. With all of these settings my phone was immediate on my titan, but I have not been able to reproduce on Omnia. Still, my response times improved to they point that I am 1-2 seconds behind. (I think that the default polling frequency is betwee 2.5 s to 5 s. On my titan I could set it to 1 second.) All best are off when I am using IGO, Opera or a similarl agressive app.
Guest Neil5459 Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 As pidsw suggests, the size and format of the ringtone can make a big difference, with all WM devices. The quickest to respond is a WAV file of less than 50KB, which the OS plays natively; MP3 and WMA ringtones need to fire up the Windows Media Player kernel in the background to play the file, and this takes a finite time; WMP also buffers a certain amount of the file, so a larger file will see a longer delay. Thiose of you seeing a delay might like to experiment with a small WAV file to see if this makes any difference ;)
Guest lastnikita Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 try this dudes HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0 edit "Script" value to av0pr
Guest 3shirts Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 try this dudes HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0 edit "Script" value to av0pr I tired that and it made no difference ;) I did a soft reset too to make sure
Guest Laruku Jr. Posted September 26, 2008 Report Posted September 26, 2008 I tired that and it made no difference ;) I did a soft reset too to make sure I've tried this too with no luck.
Guest steverose798 Posted September 27, 2008 Report Posted September 27, 2008 I've tried this too with no luck. All, I have been using Windows Mobile devices for years and I'm afraid that this "feature" is a Windows Mobile thing as all the phones I have had are the same. Steve

Steve Nope i must disagree i had HTC Touch Cruis and HTC TYTN II and they dont have this ugly feature.
Guest dopeness Posted January 12, 2009 Report Posted January 12, 2009 the i910 is my first Windows phone. all my symbian nokia phones were loud and immediate. i would hate for this to be a "design feature".
Guest tribal123 Posted January 12, 2009 Report Posted January 12, 2009 Same here..... the delay sucks!! :) I create mine mp3 with 2-3 secs. of delay (quite volume) in order to starts the ringtone with the correct volume, but i loos the first ring, however...
Guest ElArcangel Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 someone proposed this solution but.... "here are some registry hackss that may help you solve your problem: Looping Ringtones Delay Ring tone has a standard 3 seconds delay before repeating. You can set the delay from 0 second to how many second that you want. Code: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0 Change 'Script' from 'av0pw3r' to 'av0pr' and you'll get 0 sec delay. OR change it to av0pw1r = wait for 1 sec av0pw2r = wait for 2 sec and so on... Plus..heres the code a - stands for display r - repeat/replay the script again c - sets the volume C50, c150, c100 f - means flash .. f1 flash for 1 second and f0 stands for flash continuously p -means play ringtone v- vibrate then incorporate with number to state how many seconds it will vibrate example. v3 vibrate for 3seconds or v - for continous w - stands for wait or pause then specify how many seconds like w3(wait for 3 seconds) heres the example Flash - af1w60f0 Ring - apw3r Ring Once - ap Increasing Ring - c50apw3c150r Vibrate Then Ring - v3w3apw3r Vibrate - av3w3r Short Vibrate - av1w3r Vibrate Long Then Ring - v3w3v3w3apw3r Vibrate And Ring - av0pw3r Increasing Ring And Vibrate - c50apv3w3c150r Fast Vibrate And Flash - af1v1w1f0r Vibrate and Ring Continously without pausing - av0pr try it out, but besure to backup your registry" But changing from av0pw3r to av0pr only removes the 3 second delay before the ringtone starts again but does not change the initial volume on the first three seconds of the first ring. Anyway, the post has a good description and understanding the code maybe is the key to fix this. I'm not going to investigate further for a while since I want to upgrade my rom first to see if it is a fix on the latest version and if not, I'll keep investigating from where I left. Please share if anyone else finds something interesting Regards.

Guest Jokes On You Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 Anyone tried it? I was looking for some advice on this as well. The above adivce works as stated but also as stated doesnt remove the initial volume problem.
