Guest CoolHotCold Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 (edited) The Radio chip inside the omnia is a Qualcomm RTR6285 which according to Qualcomm is a "Support for Eight UMTS Bands, Four EGPRS Bands, Triple-Band Receive Diversity and GPS Integrated into Power-Optimized RTR6285 Device" Heres the photos from inside the decive which states its a Qualcomm RTR6285 4th Photo down So in it seems that the Chip is locked by the firmware only, and with a little tinkering it should mean our friends accross the atlantic can get 3G ***unless i'm totally wrong** Edited September 5, 2008 by CoolHotCold
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 Depends on the Antenna too at least! P
Guest CoolHotCold Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 *Anyone want to break open their Omnia??* :D Also if you type in *#0228# it tells you under Serving Cell its WCDMA... It wouldn't make alot of sense to keep the antenna to EU only...
Guest lastnikita Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 what does AKA means in the title ? :D
Guest pidsw Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 Every other form that I have looked at has reached this conclusion as well. IIRC the antennae is the same for Edge vs HSPDA and it is a world phone. I believe that the only difference for the i907 is removing the front camera and firmware. It is illegal to use 2100 WCDMA on phones in the US currently so they have to file for FCC with a different name to convince everyone that the phone does not accidentally leak 2100 signals
Guest CoolHotCold Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 what does AKA means in the title ? :D AKA, Also Known As
Guest CoolHotCold Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 Oh gawd, that i907 looks ugly guess were waiting untill the internal diagram appears here
Guest phillipxenxciel Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 well~~i was able to activate EDGE and QUADBAND in my moto E6, and able to patch my diamond with a UNOFFICIAL patch b4 it actual release~~i guess the chances is big if the hardware is present.
Guest leomandelbrot - import.ing Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 It does mean if I can extract the radio ROM from an I607 and put it on my EU Omnia it should work in USA on 3G frequencies (850/1900)?
Guest phillipxenxciel Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 na~~~phone radio frequency usually can be change by editing the SEEM, and i dont think the i607 radio would work since it written for different hardware~~
