Guest dunc Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 Am I right in thinking that the lights on the power button on the Omnia only flash when you press the power button to turn on the screen for messaging/missed call notifications? I like to have the light flash so that I can see if I have messages without having to switch the phone on. I sent myself and email and the phone chimed, but no light on button. However, when I press the power key to power up the screen, then the power button went purple. This seems crazy, but is it true?
Guest ATLx Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 If you go to setting - sounds & notifications - notifications - then chose the event (message: new email), then you have the option to make the light turn on when you have a new email or anything else.. regards Alex

The point I am making though is that the light does not start flashing until you press the power button to wake up the phone from sleep mode. On HTC devices, the lights flash when the phone is in sleep mode, so that you don't have to keep switching the phone on to see if you have messages. The Omnia does not seem to do this as far as I can see - can anyone else confirm this?
Guest MBA140 Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 I don't know if its a bug or by design but that's how mine behaves too. Similarly, there is no light to let you know if you have Bluetooth or WiFi on either. Annoying.

Annoying is about right - it's a killer for battery life as well if you keep turning the screen on, just to see if you have messages or not. Presumably it is something that they could address in a ROM update though...or maybe someone wants to write something to make it happen???

The Omnia does not seem to do this as far as I can see - can anyone else confirm this? The i780 is like this too - when the device is powered off, the LED is disabled. Defeats the whole object of having an alert LED! Most workarounds involve S2U2 and tweaking the power management so the phone doesn't go into deep sleep. There was a patch for the i780 here:- http://www.ppcsg.com/index.php?showtopic=100305 (post #43 has the latest version) No idea if it will work on the Omnia, and it's still likely to affect battery life as it's messing with the power saving.
Guest popwarfour Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 I drilled a small hole in my i910 shell because the LED was WAY to dull. Not its perhaps way to bright. Equaly as bright as the flash light LED. The colors i've seen come from it are blue green and red. I would love if it didn't just blink aimlessly for no apparent reason and was helpful for WiFi / missed calls / messages / etc... only wishes tho..
Guest chopperthedog Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 Is that a left handed i910? My button is on the right. good day.

Guest popwarfour Posted July 4, 2010 Report Posted July 4, 2010 Is that a left handed i910? My button is on the right. good day. haha i am left handed, but its just camera trickery. The top led has the ability to flash any color. when i hit the close button any time durring my phone it flashes blue. sometimes it will flash purple for a missed call it glows red when its charging other than that its mindless
Guest chopperthedog Posted July 4, 2010 Report Posted July 4, 2010 My i760 (r.i.p. may 09) had a great bright front mounted one which made much more sense. I can only see the color differences on the i910 when I accidentally lock myself in the closet. Good job though, I saw a tear down somewhere and they commented on how the led offset oddly. good day
