Guest MrCRB Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 Hello to all Omnia users Since this thread I am trying to flash another ROM to my 'original' Omnia (german un-branded XXHG3) and I am stuck somehow. My problem is described in a sentence: the 'start' button from the flash software never becomes available (and it doesn't matter if it's HH1 or HH3). I followed the instructions in the above mentioned thread. What am I missing? My steps so far: the mobile device's usb connection setting is set to 'active sync' on my laptop I'm using Windows XP SP 3 synchronizing my mobile device with my laptop works without problems (contacts, appointments, tasks, ...) ActiveSync version 4.5.0 build 5096 installed the Samsung modem drivers (from the thread and also directly downloaded from the Samsung website) started the ROM flash software (both HH1 and HH3) connected mobile device with laptop via USB soft reset the device -> it reboots waiting for the 'start' button / recognition of the device _ nothing happens I also tried to: start the ROM flash software turn off the mobile device connect mobile device with laptop via USB turn on the mobile device -> it boots wait for the 'start' button / recognition of the device _ nothing happens 'Start' button will NOT become available. I have looked at and found nothing to set in the mobile device options. Also in the ActiveSync settings from my laptop there is nothing special (except "allow connections to following ports: DMA" ). What am I doing incorrect? If anyone knows how to help me: please do so
Guest MrCRB Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 (edited) Hmm, after trying different options I think my main problem is the Samsung Modem Driver (CDMA). I switched the USB cable to all possible USB slots on my laptop and everytime I turn on my mobile device there is a notification of "new hardware found [sGH-i900]". And whatever option I select it wouldn't install the driver ("not found the correct files for this device" or something like that) :-( Does anyone know how to solve this problem? I've downloaded the right drivers (Win XP). I'm stumped *cry* Edited September 9, 2008 by MrCRB
Guest fridgeman Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 I had this problem to start with, i ended up removing active sync, reboot, go to install modem driver again and it should say do you want to remove, click yes and remove the driver, reboot again, then install modem driver again and reboot, install active sync and connect phone but i didnt create a partnership, then open rom upgrade program and reset phone, (i may also have done a hard reset of the phone before connecting it but cant be sure.)
Guest MrCRB Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 Hi fridgeman, thank you very much. You've helped me out. I finally flashed my Omnia with HH3 ROM version (just finished the second flashing procedure because of the wrong/old Phone version). For all the other guys who never flashed before: just start the EXE, it took 4 steps (automatically; one after the other), the last one called "phone". Wait until it says "Job done" in the progress bar (it took not more than 10 minutes for me) and then close the window of the flash program and disconnect your device from USB. I had to flash for a second time because the flash program was somehow stuck at the last step (phone). For the german users (for the interested ones): it's english now, even after hard resetting. But fridgeman, I thank you very much!

I am also living in Germany and I would like to get the Omnia in about 3 weeks when my current contract runs out (I will also get an unbranded version) and I would also like to run an English rom so I dont always have to translate everything. How is is working out so far? Which files did you use and do you have recommendations where I can find them also? I would appreciate the help. Thanks!!!!
