Guest IZIIZI Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 I know there are a few people which have had problems with battery life and I was one of them but recently it has been fixed. I bought my phone direct from Orange UK with firmware PDA:XXHG5/MSHG1 Phone:XXHG5. The phone battery was not bad, but in certain circumstances under heavy use would get hot and the battery would drain quickly. I decided to upgrade firmware to H1, and although i had the added benefits of H1, the phone heat got worse, and sometimes even when the phone was on charge it wasnt charging! I eventually took the phone back to orange who exchanged the phone. Since then I have had out standing battery life. It has the same firm ware as the first phone i got, but it doesnt get hot. I am currently on my second day with out charge, and my battery is at 60%. I havnt thrashed my phone, but I have listedend to music, sent texts, taken calls and used bluetooth. I thought this may be interesting as some Omnias may be faulty (the ones getting really hot), as so far I havnt been able to get this phone as hot as my previous one. Thought I would just share this experiance in case others want to collaborate and get to the bottom of this hot phone / battery drain issue!
Guest phillipxenxciel Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 thats not a very good news for people like me, since i got mine imported from other place, and there is no chances for me to get a exchange~

It does seem though that some people complain of a really hot phone and others say just a little. if we can get everyones opinion on how hot their phone gets it would be good. My old one got very hot to touch just below the battery on the back of the phone.

Guest mediavue Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 I have two Omnias (lucky me) and they both don't last more than a day, and I have put on every ROM out there almost! The get hot but not too hot. Weird thing is sometimes they are hot in standby mode and sometimes they are not... so I wonder if something is still on and using the juice when in standby....? Im on HH3 now so will see how this ROM goes....
Guest Quist09 Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 I really think its a combination of everything, but the majority being software and usage. There are most likely a number of units that have heat dissipation issues, but the vast majority probably don't have any real problems beyond heat build up caused by the design. Alternatively, there is likely to be more defective batteries than units. In terms of battery capacity, I use ActiveSync with an always on connection, plus have a few programs that update at least hourly. This reduces my battery considerably, but usually get through the day from 8am-1am with about 40% left at night and then recharge over night. Does my phone get hot. Never when only calling, surfing a little, texting, using multimedia. Warm when I surf a lot or use Wifi. Hot when I use the internal GPS or intensively use wifi. Am I worried? Not yet, at least.
