Guest FutureDirt Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 Hi Guys, just thought id post up in this forum as i havent posted on Modaco for a while. I am a veteran WM user and have had the opportunity to mess around with most of the best WM devices over the past few years. But this Omnia... damn its good.... really impressed that Samsung managed to pull this out of the bag! There are a couple of bits and pieces they could have done better with such as the screen res and actually having a stylus that slots into the device itself but i am managing to forgive these shortfalls. The Omnia i am currently using is a Vodafone Branded device: PDA: i900XXHH1/ACHH1 PHONE: i900BUHG5 Im not really having any issues with these ROMS but am wondering which versions you guys are using and why? Whats the latest and greatest?.... should i flash mine?
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 I'm using DXHH3, but your ROM is pretty new... P

P Theres another thread knocking about here where another user flashed his Voda branded Omnia with DXHH3... Is there any advantage for DXHH3 over my current ROM? (apart from removing the branding of course ;) )
Guest panateo Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 (edited) Is there any advantage for DXHH3 over my current ROM? (apart from removing the branding of course ;) ) Removing the voda sxxt it's already one of the best advantage to switch to DXHH3  Then you will have these kind of new menus - Launcher screen "extended" (via a central soft-key): Programs menu: Of course you can have the standard WM program menu via the stat button in the Today screen. Cheers. Edited September 11, 2008 by panateo
Guest FutureDirt Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 (edited) Nice one! thanks for those screens.... Doubling the launcher screen looks pretty cool, as does that program menu. Still not sure its enough to make the switch yet though.... i usually use the launcher to simply get to my own shortcuts... nothing on that extended launcher that looks useful for my needs. Maybe when an official Vodafone ROM becomes available so i can make the switch back in case of any warranty issues. (I just want to play really ;)) What i detested about Vodafone is their complete lack of any competence: 1. They removed google maps from the start menu but left it on the device if you know where to look 2. The right hand today screen hot key was set to go straight to Vodafone Live!... but you cant access Vodafone live with a WM device (unless you use contract WAP instead of Contract internet connection... but your average user knows nothing of this) 3. There was a link in the start menu to download Vodafone find and go satnav software but the link downloads from Vodafone live (see above lol). Also the satnav find and go software isnt even available yet for the Omnia. 4. They removed Windows Media Player from the start menu. I'm sure there is more i could list but i dont want to make this too long... Anyway... i have now configured the device properly and as i want it. Is there anything else DXHH3 has to offer? Guest FutureDirt Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 you say that google maps is on the phone if you know where to look...i dont, ;) where is it please, and can it be added to the menus? thank you Use file explorer.... browse to "my device\windows" ... make sure you select "show all files" from the menu. you will find the file Google Maps in that directory. Copy it and paste a shortcut into "my device\windows\start menu\programs" done
