Guest pidsw Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 Just an FYI: This combo works for me, being in the US I suspected than an open market radio might be a good idea. - It automatically detected my AT&T Sim card and set up some basic settings (this may happen with DXHH3 in general, not sure) - Reception is the base so far. Twice as many bars as I get on the AT&T Kaiser. Very clear speach. - No 3g of course (in the band info they list GSM 850/1900 and WCMDA as options. For WCDMA they still only support 2100, hopefully a I907 ROM will come out soon) I installed DXHH3 and then XXHI2 Phone from Secanies ROM Test thread.
Guest GSeeker2 Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 how about the battery performance? Could you please monitor that? Much appreciate!
Guest pidsw Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 While I haven't put it through a thorough barage of tests (i.e. very little GPS), it seems to be as good as the DXHH3. I lost about 30% through the day with about 5 short calls, push mail, some web etc.
Guest bobsbbq Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 I have had H3 with Phone I2 now for the last 4 days. As of last night I was at 72 hours since last charge and I still had 60% battery. Now this was a lot of standby time and 10-15 min of internet a day and a few calls a day. I consider this to be outstanding battery life compared to H1. 3-4 days of standby time along with little use is good in my book. With H1 my standby time was only 24 hrs or less. The signal strength is also stronger on I2 phone. I was in one location getting no signal to 1 bar, now in the same location I get 3-4 bars. Thanks Secany

"72 hours since last charge and I still had 60% battery" I think this is the BEST result i've ever seen on Omnia. Thank you guys!
Guest pidsw Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 I am not sure if this is 100% necessary, but I have had the best luck in terms of flashing a phone ony using GrandPrix 1.8.1. Also, it will not clear your storage or hard reset your phone. I am not sure if this is necessary, but when I upgrade Roms I usually pull the battery and hard reset prior to using the phone. It is ironic, I got the Samsung because it looked like the best all around device (great camera, gps, wifi, the basics: email, wince programmability, bluetooth, etc) and it is light. I had forgotten two of the most important things about the old fashioned phones: Battery life, call quality and size/weight. The Omnia is the best phone that I have had in each of these categories.
Guest GSeeker2 Posted September 14, 2008 Report Posted September 14, 2008 (edited) I've been on the H3/I2 for about 30 hours, and now i get 40% battery left after medium usage. Not bad overall, but not as good as i expected. I will keep on monitoring it for further result. Edited September 15, 2008 by GSeeker2
Guest broughs Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 Just tried this and will see how it goes. Everything was good in H3/H3 48 hours of battery but reception could have been better so will try this to see if it improves Stu

Thanks Secany I have this combination of firmware for the last 4-5 days and only noticed tiny improvement in battery... it still only last me a day - from sunrise to late evening... I have two omnias and tryed switching the batteries etc... but still the same... so I don't know how your getting 70 hours plus???
Guest Deroo Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 I have the firmware and and I think it's amazing, I'm not watching battery life, but I know for a fact there is a difference in signal strength and battery life, so it was worth the upgrade.

As I stated most of mine is stanby time with a little use. I actually didn't charge until the day after I posted this so I got really good use. If you are a heavy user it might be diiferent for you. My main point was with H1 Even in stanby my battery would not last but 1 day. Now I get 3-4 days. Plus the signal is better for me.
Guest broughs Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 noticably improved reception and too early to tell about battery although it seems at least as good as H3 Stu
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 What is XI? Hong Kong? Does it have the non standard font and chinese input? Any different apps? P
Guest broughs Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 Phone part is i900XXHI2 Italian which seems to improve reception and perhaps battery. H3 PDA still solid and most stable Stu

I am using DXHH3 right now before was DXHG1 then DXHH1, all three version battery life can't last for 12 hours, below is my usage: 1. approximately 1 hour of GSM call, 2. 10 mins of GPS with AGPS 3. half hour of internet surfing 4. 20 - 30 SMSs I have to charge the battery every night for 3.5hours, so i always have a spare phone standby when ever the battery run low. I had observed that when the battery bar is between 40 to 50%, it drain till 0 in less than an hour.

I will try it once the phone is fully charge, by the way do you think my usage is high for the example quoted earlier. for now do I have to refresh the rom to HH3 again to do step 2 to 4 as advised by you? Please let me know, I will try if need to refresh the ROM. Thanks ;)

Yes, you'd better reflash it after you backup your data. I think your usage is just a medium one. My battery could last for about 36 or 40 hours with a medium ussga similar to yours.

I have a HTC diamond too, it battery seems to last the same amount of hours (12+) as my Omnia. So I think Samsung battery of 1440 mAh may not be correct for this phone. That's what i think. don't know about other user. Ok, just have my Omnia reflash and did the steps you taught me, hope it works. Thank you very much for the pointer.. ;)
