Guest fursie Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 Just to let you know to be carefull when renwing with T-Mobile. I just negatiated the handset for £38 in p&p on the combi 30 (18m) deal and swapped the unlimited texts for 400 & W&W free for the first 6 months. I confirmed with the lady on the phone that I would still get HSDPA speeds on this W&W package. When I received the handset today it wasnt showing the 3.5g or HSDPA symbol. I always had HSDPA on my Vario 3 at this location. So I phoned T-Mobile to make sure they had me enbled for HSDPA. The guy said that the free W&W package didnt include HSDPA and that I would have to pay £7.50 for it and they couldnt even re-instate the unlimited texts that I swapped for. Very angry and have written a formal complaint. If I dont get it sorted within the 7 days cancellation period I will be off the vodaphone who give you the handset free on their £35/m deal including similar number of mins texts and also free unlimited browsing!
Guest chamby Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 are you sure you dont have HSDPA? im on tmo and didnt ask for HSDPA but when im in an are that i can get it when i press the little 3G symbol (next to the signal indicator) it says im connected to HSDPA in the speech bubble that appears altho it never shows a H (or whatever the sybol is to show)
Guest deadphill Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 To be fair, I have never seen the H symbol on my omnia, but using the same sim card, I do on my Diamond. Might be worth while finding out if the handset shows HSDPA or it just displays it as 3G. Cheers Phill

Guest deadphill Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 Hmm Sounds strange. I know you can tell for definate if you log in on your personal space on the website and then it tells you if HSDPA is enabled. It might help to find out if anyone does get the H symbol though! Cheers Phill
Guest MBA140 Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 First, the Omnia shows HSDPA with a tiny little + sign just above and to the right of the 3G sign. Coverage is very variable I find. Also, you won't see the + sign unless you actually connect. There is a cab file on this site somewhere to give you a nice big "H" instead of the +. I don't know if its changed recently but t-mobile did start restricting HSDPA to the premium W&W tariff.

Would it be too much to ask for a link ? Or a more specific name to look for ? TIA.
Guest MBA140 Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 Don't know how to put a link in here to the thread but search this forum for "Replace 3G+ icon with H icon" It's about 5 pages in.
