Guest Core Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 I just got my UK omnia and its brilliant and not noticed any bugs, its fast and responsive. The PDA and phone are DXHG4, but I thought DX is for Singapore but the language is English. So if I flash with DXHH3 will I still have English language?

I am in the same situation - have just joined as well and have exactly the same firmware. I haven't done this myself but as far as I can tell from reading, yes your phone will still be in english. Note that you may have to set the phone's region to Singapore before it boots though as described in the sticky post to avoid "incorrect version" errors. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong - I'm about to flash as well and confirmation wouldn't hurt! ;) Also, I'm a software engineer and would love to play around with these things a bit more. Does anyone have any good pointers on where to start hacking around? To begin with, has anyone worked out how to get the omnia to boot from the SD slot yet?

You ever heard the expression "If it aint broken dont try and fix it!" i'd suggest not flashing if you've a good DXHG4, as thats the current official samsung release, it seems the battery life deteriates from flashing up to HH3, threads on here suggest HG4 is the best for battery life, the reason most of us are flashing is becuase of unresponsive handsets you see!
Guest Core Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 Battery life is important to me so I won’t flash, thanks Ice Man
Guest Top_Cat Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 Battery life is important to me so I won’t flash, thanks Ice Man Hm i bought my Omnia from Phones4u came with XXHG5 rom pretty descent battery life which is also important to me. Can get 2 days out of it with light texting few short phone calls bit of browsing on 3g etc. Dont really fancy having less than 2 days though ;) I have currently downloaded DXHH3 and am seriously considering flashing it just not 100% if i can flash to it directly from HG5 or i have to go HH1 first. May just leave it though and wait for official release as i havn't noticed any bugs or slowness to complain about.
