Guest meddleuk Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 Just bought an Omnia from Ebay, the 16gb version from Orange. I was told by the seller the phone is unlocked and that he had tried an 02 simcard in it and that it had worked. When I inserted by T-mobile Sim card I was taken to a screen which asks me to enter a Pin, at first I thought that this was my Simcard pin but when I entered that it still did not work. It stated "The pin is not valid. The Pin must be between 4 and 8 digits long". There is an icon on the top bar stating "NET" with a Padlock next to it. When I click on it a message appears on the phone stating "Network Lock" I assume this means it is still locked to Orange. I did a search on Google about unlocking the phone and found the following site "http://www.unlocktelecom.co.uk" which stated they would unlock the phone within 2 hours however they sent me a message after taking my money that "Due to firmware programmed into the version of your mobile model, it can be only be safely unlocked remotely by the existing mobile network operators that it is locked currently to. This information above is provided because your model is not on our compatibility list as per our terms page and from our research we can't locate anyone currently on the internet when checking for you who can reliably unlock this model remotely. Therefore we can only recommend the safest way to unlock this model is by the network provider that your mobile is locked to. " Can anyone offer me any advice. Is there a way for me to fix this or can the previous owner ask for it to be unlocked. Please help!!!!!!

Security code. its either 0000, 000000, or 00000000 Other than that i would advise seeing if you know anyone on orange and popping their sim card into the phone to double check

I have also tried my wifes Pay and Go Sim in the phone and the same thing happens
Guest blackhorse Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 I tried entering those number but it still states an incorrect pin. I have also tried my wifes Pay and Go Sim in the phone and the same thing happens It doesnt sound like its network locked then, so a network unlock code would be useless (as far as im aware the orange ones are not locked anyway) Id get in touch with the seller and ask them if they locked the handset to only work with the sim it came with and if so ask them for the password! Other option is to Flash to HH3 (i think the sim lock is a software lock and therefore would be wiped on a flash)
Guest meddleuk Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 What makes you think it is not networked locked. Both my T-mobile and my wifes Tesco Pay&Go simcards cannot operate on this Omnia. If it is networked locked are there any other signs. With a Simcard inserted I have a notification on the left soft key which gives the message "Network Lock"
Guest Hoffighter Posted September 14, 2008 Report Posted September 14, 2008 You can buy a unlock code here When you have the Code insert another Sim Card and put in the Code...it works ;) *#7465625# is the Code to see the lock Status Sorry for my bad English

Didnt know this Edited September 14, 2008 by blackhorse
Guest Krisbee Posted September 14, 2008 Report Posted September 14, 2008 hello i have the same problem, my wife got this on orange and I am trying to use my o2 simcard and have the same thing, the lock symbol with network lock asking for a pin number, i thought it was a sim pin but it must be locked as its working on her orange sim. I have paid for a unlock code from here - http://www.unlocksamsung.co.uk/samsung_gsm_unlock.htm So just hoping they can provide one!
Guest Krisbee Posted September 14, 2008 Report Posted September 14, 2008 this is definatley some kind of network lock and not a pin, as I just put my girlfriends orange sim in and it asked for the phone pin and then once entered the phone works fine. But when I put in my o2 it says network locked and asked for a pin (not a phone pin). Also i entered that code above when it was on with the orange sim and it shows 'network locked'. So I am hoping the above website can provide an unlock code now
Guest Krisbee Posted September 14, 2008 Report Posted September 14, 2008 btw where you view lock status with the code *#7465625# is there anyway to change this?!?! or do you need to pay for an unlock code/pin first?
Guest meddleuk Posted September 14, 2008 Report Posted September 14, 2008 Okay I have tried a T-mobile, Vodaphone and O2 sim card in the Omnia and each one of them asks for this 4-8 digit pincode to operate. However when I tried an Orange card from a neighbour it automatically bypassed this stated "A New Simcard has been inserted, would you like to auto configure the network settings for Orange GRPS". I spoke to the guy who sold it to me and he in turn rang Orange and on the second attempt spoke to someone who knows what they are talking about. They stated that his phone is not properly Network locked but locked for the first 3 months, this is an attempt by Orange to stop their customers selling off their upgraded phones straight away. They told hom that it is possible to unlock from the Network with a Special pincode that could be done by most people that work in Mobile Phone shops/markets. Now just wondering who is the best person to unlock this for me. I tried the site http://service4handys.de/index.php/de/Sams...WG423/a_A001466 but it looks a bit differcult to navigate due to the language. Krisbee if your site works please let me know.
Guest meddleuk Posted September 14, 2008 Report Posted September 14, 2008 Hi Krisbee, just to let you know I also tried http://www.unlocksamsung.co.uk/samsung_gsm_unlock.htm I filled out the registration form today about 3pm and have just had an email from them in the last 5 mins giving me to possible 8 digit codes to try out. The first code did and now I can finally enjoy my Omnia on T-mobile. So this site certainly gets a recomendation from me. Thanks for everyone's help. Hope those of you with problems get them sorted. ;)
Guest s1rl4ncel0t Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 Other option is to Flash to HH3 (i think the sim lock is a software lock and therefore would be wiped on a flash) Is this possible? It would be great... Can anyone confirm if with a flash the simlock would go away? HastaSSSS
Guest blackhorse Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 Is this possible? It would be great... Can anyone confirm if with a flash the simlock would go away? HastaSSSS By Simlock i do mean in security you can select for the phone to only work with the current sim card unless a passkey is typed in, this stops someone stealing and putting their own sim in. I assume your meaning network lock? No a reflash wouldnt help that
Guest Krisbee Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 hi meddleuk, yeah mine is working now I got my codes today too! Wicked website for unlock codes!
