Guest Meen Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 You will never be success downloading A-GPS in this rom because domain agps.com is expired!!!!!!
Guest bobobird Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 (edited) bobobird thank you again! could you post here an updated file for me to try to see if there is a change on may device that dont seem do download? Upgraded to HI2 and the settings are slightly different but I havent enabled it so that could be the reason. There is probably no reason now to enable xtras considering that gps fix is quite fast - 2 or 3 minutes initially and almost immediate on subsequent use. test.agps.com is still listed - yes, domain doesnt show up in browser. But, data does come in via wifi - not sure where from. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Samsung\RIL\GPS] "AccessPoint"="" "Accuracy"=dword:00000013 "AGPSStatus"=dword:00000000 "DownloadResult"=dword:00000000 "MaxLocationAge"=dword:00000000 "OperatingMode"=dword:00000000 "QOPDelay"=dword:0000000c "RefreshRate"=dword:00000001 "ResponseTime"=dword:00000002 "Running"=dword:00000000 "ServerAddress"="test.agps.com:7275" "SessionType"=dword:00000001 "SSL"=dword:00000000 "StartingMode"=dword:00000001 "TimeSync"=dword:00000000 "VAccuracy"=dword:00000000 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Samsung\RIL\GPS\XTRA] "AccessPoint"="" "AutoDownload"=dword:00000000 "DownloadInterval"=dword:00000018 "DownloadResult"=dword:00000000 "Enable"=dword:00000000 "UseSpecificAPN"=dword:00000000 Edited September 29, 2008 by bobobird
Guest Ingvarr Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 If you have troubles with AGPS server, you can try replacing it with other one, for example, this - xtra1.gpsonextra.net:80
Guest echaya Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 do you guys have some recommended agps server?
Guest Juicey Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 I've tried the default (test.agps.com:7275) and the one mentioned by Ingvarr (xtra1.gpsonextra.net:80), they both work fine. Am a bit amazed at the amount of time the Omnia needs to update the info. It takes a good 2 minutes to get the 37,5 kb of information, which seems rather slow (unless a lot of data calculations are needed that I'm not aware of..). Is it this slow for anyone else?
Guest Ingvarr Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 (edited) Yes, its slow for me. However I think this is bug introduced in firmwares somewhat since HH. With original HG firmware I defenitely had almost no wait on XTra download. Edited September 30, 2008 by Ingvarr

Am I suppose to input all the above string into my registry b/c my phone only has the following: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Samsung\RIL] GPS Priority VPhone NO XTRA * Under the following string all I have uner GPS is the following: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Samsung\RIL\GPS] Default (value not set) Running 0x0 (0) So I would appreciate if you someone (anyone) could give me step by step instructions of what I'm suppose to do! Many Thanks! ~Nubian~
Guest jh787 Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 (edited) Have you tried typing in *#1472365# into your Omnia? It brings up some extra gps settings, some of which are similar to settings that can be reached in registry but some are unique. The main one that was of interest to me was the start up mode of GPS. Mine was set to cold start which meant that every time i started my tomtom it did so by deleting all previous data. This meant i was on a cold start each and every time i used it which was why it took forever to lock sometimes. I have now changed this setting to "hotstart" and my locks are instant. There are various other settings that can be played with and tried out but this setting alone got rid of the only flaw i could find in the Omnia2. Please see post 95 in the following thread for my registry settings which give me a very fast fix with excellent accuracy. http://www.modaco.com/content-page/275659/...0/#entry1238381 Edited April 7, 2010 by jh787
