Samsung Omnia Replacement Housing

Firstly great site you have here. I've been looking into getting a Samsung Omnia for the last week and everything I googled seemed to bring me to this site so here I am lol.

I decided to take the plunge with Voda as they offered me an early upgrade when I asked to cancel my contract and pay up front to get out of it so snapped it up quick. It's due for being delivered tomorrow.

Now the casing I believe has Vodafone stamped on it ;) so my first question is does anyone know where unbranded/origional housing can be purchased from and if it's not out yet is it likley to be at a later date? I have tried local phone repair shops including the CPW but none of the engineers seem to be trained on these yet and would have to send the unit off. I have seen the silicone covers for the phone which would cover up this branding but has anyone actually used one of these and are they of good quality? Or do they make the phone look cheap?

Heard lots about rom updates going wrong so think I will hang fire for now till an official UK update is released. However I have heard that the Omnia can be JTAG'ed but can't seem to find any info on how if anyone knows? Would be nice if I could dump the origional ROM to keep my warranty but this doesn't seem to be possible?

However brosing the Voda forums it looks like they are about to be releasing a rom so can someone explain if it is possible to downgrade roms, or can you only update to a newer version?

I was also going to ask where to get a compatible TV out cable, but apparently the Voda rep said the package includes a TV out cable and carry pouch - I guess time will tell about that one lol

Unfortunantly not but thanks for posting. Thats the full phone, I just need the housing.

Although it does mention they should be availiable on eBay soon. But I have had a replacement housing for my N95 and for my N70 off eBay that was supposed to be genuine and they was actually a load of s**t to say the least! Once put together half the buttons did not work and the other half needed to be pressed VERY hard to work.

Hopefully a reputable store will get replacement housing in sometime in the near future.

Sat here waiting like a kid on Christmas morning for my Omnia to be delivered lol. It should be here before 12:00 but last time Voda said that my parcel was actually delivered at 5:55pm ;)

So anyone used the silicone cases then? And anyone know how to JTAG the Omnia as I have a few JTAG cables I can try but I'm pretty sure they only support MIPS CPU's.....?
