Guest mobad Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 Sorry guys it aint branded. The rom its currently on is - PDA - i900XXHG5/MSHG1 PHONE - i900XXHG5 What methods did you guys use to update and was it on Vista?
Guest Ingvarr Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 (edited) I just have updated successfully to DXHH3 using VMWare. Just make sure you have enough RAM for it to run absolutely without swapping, also set it to High Priority to prevent possible interruptions of upload. Dual core CPU will help too. What software did you use to update urs and what was ur original ROM? I've used my friends XP the other day but that also didn't work.
Guest Ingvarr Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 Official updater - i900DXHH3.exe My original ROM was the same (I have same Orange unbranded & unlocked as you are).

Guest Ingvarr Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 (edited) Dear GOD you are brave! P I don't think its such a big risk really. Several people already reported success with VMWare on Vista in this forum, and there were no reports of failures yet. So I would guess its pretty much the same risk as updating at all. I know that VMware usb bridge is somewhat less tolerant in timings than pure usb port, but it appears not that relevant with pretty slow usb rom upload speeds. Basically I had a choice - to update on PC with XP without UPS or to update on laptop with Vista in VMware. I decided that risk of power outage is much more real ;) Edited September 16, 2008 by Ingvarr
