Guest jsl2 Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 Hello, I writing this to report a problem with ROM flash when using a dual core (and probably quad/ multi CPU). Mainly, when I try to flash my omnia with whatever updater, the phone part alway fail with the 'cannot create port' error on a computer with an intel dual core (HP mobile workstation). What lead me to this conclusion is that, the flash of the 4 parts are done in a asynchronous way ! It always start with the eboot part and after that the pda image is started but does not complete before the CSC start, the pda part will finally complete but the CSC is still under way when the phone part start (and cannot complete). Flashing on a mono core computer was the solution. I did try to play with the affinity parameters but without success. Any comment ? ------------- i900XHHH6/XHHH4 i900XXHH9 (was XXHH3/XXHH3 with XXHH3 phone)
Guest Ingvarr Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 (edited) I have flashed on dual core just fine... Its not that single core does not support multithreading, if they would do asynchronous flashing it will be the same on single core. Edited September 16, 2008 by Ingvarr

Guest jsl2 Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 OK I thought I pinned down my problem of this out of order flash when I switched to the other computer (this was my first time with the flash happening in sequence !). What can be the reason to this behavior ? my first flash was DXHH1 then the DXHH3 and now the XHHH4, all behaved the same way. I'm running XP SP3. I did uninstall the modem driver many time and rebooted nearly as much. even re-installed the activesync. without success. Now the phone is OK but I'm still wondering about what is happening here. JS
