Guest meatface Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 I am sure this has been answered somewhere but I cannot seem to find it. 1) what is the difference between a theme and a homescreen. 2) how do I know which homescreen or theme will work on my device. My device is a HTC Touch Dual (which I think is the same as the Nike/Niki) Many thanks to all who answer. ;)
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Technically they are the same, the homescreen can be described as the image you see on the Today screen and a theme can sometimes add extra features like weather plugins etc. Your device has a QVGA screen which is 320x240 layout we have a few you can try out in the Downloads section of the site. http://www.modaco.com/index.php?automodule...&showcat=35
Guest meatface Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 WOW it worked and it was very easy. However one answer always makes for another question. I see that there are often other files which need to be installed (for a lack of a better word). Such as .png files and .xml files. Is there anything special about those? Do I simply dump them into the Windows folder and hope for the best? Guest awarner (MVP) Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 .png are image files and are normally related to the theme that has been installed. The .xml is normally the instruction data for the actual layout of the theme, so it says what goes where on the screen. What theme did you use? Some have instructions on how to install them and some do not, also others are just an image only so the layout is the standard one that cam with the device. As to where you put them? the main places are in either the Windows or My Documents folder.
