"A brand new spanking mobile phone called Samsung Bresson M8800 has been spotted as a pre-order offer at a retail website. The M8800 should sport high-end features such as 8 megapixel autofocus camera, a large touchscreen display with a thumbable UI, quad-band GSM support and tri-band HSDPA.

The Samsung M8800 won't have a hardware keyboard onboard. The full touch UI will offer improved thumbable music and photo interface. Unfortunately, there are no detailed specs yet - not even photos, so we can't saw much more.

The only stuff that we do know however is that the Samsung M8800 will come with preinstalled Google Search & Maps, Accu Weather, and the latest Samsung CNN News & Sport app.

Let's remind you that Samsung has another sweet 8 MP phone called Samsung i8510 INNOV8, which we recently previewed. You may also consider looking on the other 8 MP phones, the Sony Ericsson C905 and LG KC910 Renoir.

We are all ears for other more specific information concerning the Samsung Bresson M8800 and you'll be the first to know, when it pop ups. For now, the online store reports expected availability in mid-October, which is unusually soon for an unannounced phone."

quote from gsmarena, for people like us! who just got a 6xx (for some even more) dollars phone, they tell u a better one is coming~~

i think its ok to release better one, but its all coming too fast.........piss me off

I wouldn't get too upset. These things always happen - what about Diamond and Touch Pro users? All of a sudden the Touch HD comes out in a couple of months time...

The key thing to think about is are you happy with your current phone? If yes then that is all that matters. We can't do anything about manufacturers policies and the pace of technology - so enjoy your Omnia as from what I gather, and of the little I have seen, it is a cracking phone! ;)

I don't see any problem with technology improving fast. Nobody forces me to upgrade anyway, and as long as my device serves me right, I am perfectly satisfied with it. That unless you feel that you always need to have "the best" phone out there ;)

Btw none of the phones you quoted is WM-phones. Also how can you compare keypad slider like INNOV8 with Omnia? This is completely different form factor.

I bought a phone last year, and I am both shocked and horrified that the entire mobile industry has continued to both sell and develop other phones!

give the guy a break, he has a point, why can't one company make a really "TRUE ALL IN ONE PHONE" from the biginning? or is it just marketing thing? if they can make all these specs this fast, and they release the phones one month at a time... then I think of it as if they are stealing us with a smile on our faces! if they can make an 8MP camera, good touch screen phone with big screen, and so on why don't they just concentrate on one phone... make it right, and have firm QA before they release it, then continue developing on it and enhancing it... not just following Apple and making sure they just beat it in release time! look at apple... they have released iPhone, made sure that everyone is happy with it, made it clear with its limitations to the market, continued developing and making sure it is as great as it can be, then they released iPhone 3G one year later (perfect timing for any one changing their phones) and DISCONTINUED old iphone so they can concentrate on this one... they release clear rom images with release notes and official updates... they make sure that everybody knows about the bugs and fixes and continue enhancing... not like Samsung, Nokia, Sonyericsson or any other manufacturer who don't have respect for their customers, go over the web, check all the forums, you'll find people begging for roms, cooked or even official, upgrading eyefolded, bricking their phones or making them better! why does it have to be this way? my wife she has the iPhone, I have used it for quite some time, and "regardless of its delibrate limitations" I can say it is flowless, eyecandy, and on top of everything, I feel that Apple is respecting me by keeping me informed, talking to me about my product and even sending me emails with new rom upgrades and telling me about the bugs that I may come across which is very rare.

What I am trying to say is that sometimes we are blinded by the spec sheet of some phone from some company while we really should be looking for true usability, respect, QA and error free eye candy just-do-it-right-out-of-the-box kinda phone.

Sorry for the long post, I know all of you already know what I have mentioned, and I am not pointing at any particular phone or company, but had to say what I had to say so maybe someone will hear from these companies.

Umm, even if they just don't want to, who cares? If you don't like the device, don't buy.

Or keep waiting for "true all in one" forever. Because there always will be features that will be added to this "all" list, and there always will be specific bad things about every device that is out and that is not present in newer devices.

The system is how it is now, because it works. Simple.

its funny how people can be ignorantly emotional instead of practical... all what we are asking for is a little respect from the "mother company" and that's it...

But hey, I love my Omnia too... ;)

i dont have a problem them releasing new models just when i bought one, what i would hate is if they bumped the price lower just after i purchased, much like what apple did with 1st gen iPhone. if that m8800 comes out with better specs but more expensive than my omnia, then thats fine with me, if that thing comes out with better specs than omnia, but same price as the price i bought my omnia, and they just bump the price of omnia just to realign the pricing, then i would be pissed.

I know for sure ONE of a few good reasons out there why PDA/smart phones just keep popping up within months instead of years now, that is we are NOT God who can create a PERFECT one the first time. So even the most genius human being still takes time to perfect something (meaning their engineering team is not perfect, lol). I personally waited for years since I started working with Ericsson on one of their smallest TDMA 3-line text mono LCDphone back in 1997 to get my hands on my first ever touch screen phone with ALMOST all the goodies such as the Omnia. BUT this phone still has bugs (HW/SW and the forever buggy WMxxx) and needs lots of improvements to be the top. It should have the same good screen like the iPhone and its fast consistent touch swipe/wipe or whatever you call it (not all touch in one app and back to the boring scroll bar window, so damn confusing ;) ). It should come with more games taking advantage of the accelerometer  . And the last is why the hell it can only record a VGA video in a half ass job of only 15fps :( and its picture color should be a little bit more bright and vivid. If the next phone has all these wishes sorted out, I WILL be the first to get it no matter what cost it is. Well if Apple has the VGA recording 30fps with 5mpx camera, video call conference, an external 16GB SD micro, Office mobile, DivX, pre-installed and region specific Nav SW and other goodies like Smart Reader, Fm radio with RDS from Omnia, then all hell breaks loose again and its price can be >US$1K easily. SO LET'S FIX AND IMPROVE THE OMNIA WITH THE BEST ROM YOU CAN OFFER US (ATT 3G UNLOCKED FOR THE U.S, EDGE IS TOO DAMN SLOW FOR THE REALLY FAST GPS CHIP IF DRIVING > 40MPH), SAMSUNG <_< .

I really HATE them all when so many phones but NONE of them is the PERFECT ONE. CHEERS!

it's because if they make an all in one phone what would they sell the next month hehe it's all $$$ in mobile phone industry so we just choose the best phone that will accomodate our needs ;) and don't go near sites that releases new phones details hehe or else you will find the urge to upgrade again hehe

I did find this to be a little irritating. From a rationale perspective, a number of the reasons make no sense, but there are a few that do.

Here what I think seems to be the patterns that I've noticed:

- Everyone likes to have the newest, greatest phone or gadget. I recally at a recent company event, there was a large future advertisement showcasing upcoming cool phones. They had the Diamond, The Touch Pro, the X1 and the Omnia. The Omnia was shown last and it got the most attention, however they said that no one knew when it would be available in North America. People said: Hey isn't that what you have? For some reason that made me smile.

- No one likes to get ripped off. The truth is, the price and relative value of technology generally falls. It is sad to see your "Investment" depreciate so quickly. On the flipside, it is nice when expensive things fall into your price range.

- If you were to resale, or trade in your phone, it would be worth less.

- If there is a newer device that is clearly better and the price is not much different, more people will get this new device. As a result, support and compatibility for your device will be reduced. One of the great things about owning a Kaiser was that there are so many people that had them who are active online, so as a result you have a lot of custom software for your device (so many excellent Roms) a wide pool of wisdom (Kaiser Tweaks) and compatibilty fixes, workarounds or direct support. (including semi functional bits like android and manilla ports and special drivers for your graphics accelerator),

yeah, and ill end up not buying at all, the price of phones and other techs always go down, just not as fast as what apple did to iPhone.

yea~~~think about what would happen if apple release the 1st iphone, then 2 months later the 3g one come out~~what would the iphone fans do? lol~~they did not release the 3g iphone, but they drop the price that pretty much has the same effects~~genius

I completely approve this thread. I would rather prefer those company take some vacations once they've built a good phone, and at least wait for a decade before they do so again.

That way, maybe we could stop being some capricious children begging for new stuff then shouting at the people who created them, because they offer a better model later but won't give it to you for free.

;)

The M8800 is not really competing with the omnia as there’s no mention of an OS, so it can’t be a smart phone. I would prefer a 5MP windows mobile phone than an 8MP with no OS.

The Samsung Pixon (m8800) launches with Orange UK in November. Its NOT a competitor to the Omnia, as it doesnt run windows.

Think it of it a more a cross between the tocco and the Innov8 (i8510)

the device is not windows mobile but the samsung touch wiz software

The INNOV8 is for sale in portugal, and I played with it already... Only the camera is good, them it's just another phote with Wi-Fi.. And the Symbian on it isn't that great...
