Guest daubmars Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 Hello, I have a Moto q9m with Google Maps v 2.2.0.19. The other day I got the "My Location" feature to work without an external GPS receiver, but the activation sequence was very interesting as shown below... - Power on my external Bluetooth GPS receiver (GlobalSat BT-821) - Start Google Maps and enable "Use GPS" - Turn off my external Bluetooth GPS receiver - Enable "My Location" Unbelievably, "My Location" remained working without my external GPS receiver. I drove around my neighborhood and the system tracked my location (although not as accurately as my external GPS receiver). HOWEVER, whenever I try "My Location" without enabling my external GPS receiver first, I get the message "Your handset doesn't seem to be compatible with My Location (beta) feature." Can anyone comment why I can get "My Location" to work after enabling and then disabling my external GPS receiver first, but not when just using Google Maps alone? How can I get "My Location" to work independently without an external GPS receiver? Thank you.
Guest tsutton Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 My Location, by not enabling "Use GPS", works by triangling from mobile phone mast. But I'm not sure why this is happening. Have you reported this to Google as it's beta?
