Guest Koofteh Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 (edited) I have noticed a few things on my new Omnia that I thought I'd share... I'm not too much of a WinMo noob, so I hope these aren't painfully obvious: 1. If you hold the volume rocker up for a few seconds, you get a magnifier icon and using the rocker up down you can zoom in and out and move around by touching the screen. It works anywhere in the OS as I think it's a WinMo 6.1 feature. 2. You can load Samsung's task manager by doing a complete finger slide from bottom to top (put your finger where the softkeys are and drag all the way up to the clock). Many of you probably know about these, but thought I'd share anyway. Also, post any other little tricks you might have found for the i900. Cheers. Edited October 16, 2008 by Koofteh

You can load Samsung's task manager by doing a complete finger slide from bottom to top (put your finger where the softkeys are and drag all the way up to the clock). Actually, no need to drag all the way to the clock... Even half (less than half) the screen will do. ;)
Guest Koofteh Posted September 23, 2008 Report Posted September 23, 2008 Actually, no need to drag all the way to the clock... Even half (less than half) the screen will do. ;) True, I figure rather be safe than sorry though... right? It doesn't alway register so well. I have soft reset and GPSGate (which starts hidden in the taskbar) mapped to my hardware buttons, along with camera and Resco File Explorer finger-friendly mode. I can do everything basic so quickly now, with the buttons, and shortcuts to task switcher and magnifier as well.
Guest Quist09 Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 I probably missed this because I was stuck on the old kind of "autofocus" digital cameras, but up until yesterday, I had been pushing the camera button halfway to focus then a full press to take the picture. By chance, I tried just one push on the 4-way/optical mouse button when the camera app was up, and it autofocused and automatically took the picture immediately after a focus was achieved. Now with this, I've been shooting away faster than I was ever able to do with my real digital camera and the pictures are coming out just as nicely as my old manual method above (plus I have a greater chance at getting the shot). I think the same thing can be done with the camera button itself (quick full press), but I've had 50-50 success in it focusing. Sometimes it just shoots before the focus is achieved, sometimes I guess I don't push hard enough and it wants to focus and wait for a real full-press. With the 4-way/optical mouse button, it works every time.

Guest Yunabeco Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 I checked the following dial codes for some neat stuff. Just tap the call button and dial them. *#0206*8376263# - Shows a screen with the PDA/Phone version numbers, H/W and RFCalDate. *#197328640# - Root debug menu *#1546792*# - (Executes \Windows\AdminSettings.exe) Shows the Administrator Settings menu. In there: 1. Version - Shows a menu where you can access the version numbers for the PDA and the Software (redirects to the Settings Version applet) 2. Preconfiguration - Password is *#81230*#. Allows to preconfigure the Omnia Operator settings by changing the country and operator. Note: Changing this will hard-reset the device. This won't lock the device with the specified operator. 3. Network-Call Setting: >1. Power On Attach: (Attach [default] or Detach) ??? >2. Service Domain: (Combined [default], CS or PS) Changes which service domain to use. >3. Network mode: (Auto [default], GSM or WCDMA) Changes the data connexion mode. WCDMA is 3G. >4. Network order (Auto [default], GSM first, WCDMA first or No change) Changes which mode to try first when connecting, with Network Mode on Auto. 4. Internal - Password is unknown. I'm not sure what it does. *#0002*28346# - Opens the Audio control utility, where you can adjust low-level volumes. *#7465625# - (Executes \Windows\Personalize.exe %LOCK_STATUS_INFO) Shows the status of the Network, Service Provider, SIM or Corporation lock. *#92782# - (Executes \Windows\uamgr.exe) Shows the UA profile settings. *#232337# - (Executes \Windows\bthrftest.exe) Shows the Bluetooth RF tester and the device address. *#32489# - (GSM test) Shows the ciphering status and options to enable or disable it. *#7451# - (Nothing happens?) *#7450# - (Nothing happens?) *#2263# - (Executes \Windows\bandsel.exe -band) (GSM test) Shows the GSM band selection screen, with the options Automatic [default], GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900, 850/190 and 900/1800. *#1234# - (Executes \Windows\KSReset.exe #Version) Shows the PDA and the Phone version number. *#0782# - (Executes \Windows\RTCViewer.exe) Shows the Clock & Alarms settings. *#0673# - (Executes \Windows\PlaySound.exe) Shows Audio sound tests. *#9090# - (GSM test) UART/USB settings. *#0842# - Shows tests for the Vibration, the Back Light and the alert LED (Power buttton LED). *#2580# - (GSM test) Integrity settings. *#0228# - (GSM test) Shows the detailed GSM status: Antenna signal power, served network mode, temperature, Battery, Voltage (Antenna ADC test) *#2222# - (GSM test) Shows the FTA hardware version. *#1111# - (GSM test) Shows the FTA software version. *#0011# - (Executes \Windows\TestMode.exe) (GSM test) Shows some more detailed GSM (Basic Information) status. *#745# - Dumps SLOG, whatever it is, and shows a message. *#06# - Shows IMEI number. *#1*# - (Executes \Windows\Line_KeyTest.exe) *#0*# - (Executes \Windows\LCDTest.exe) Shows a menu to test LCD colors, bootup melody, vibration, dimming, back camera, front camera, touchscreen, light sensor, sleep mode and mouse. The accelerometer data is also displayed at the bottom.
Guest Koofteh Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 Good adds guys. Here's a general Windows Mobile hack I remembered from my days of WinMo 5. You can add your own carrier logo by creating a 110x20 GIF file named carrierlogo.gif and dumping it in your \Windows folder. Do a soft reset and you should see it in the Phone windows and the little popup you get when someone phones your device.
Guest robertut Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 (edited) Gently touching/moving your finger up and down above the action key, will cause scrolling, moving up and down of the cursor! Very nice feature! Edited October 17, 2008 by robertut
Guest iTnkD4iAm Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 For those who's not using shozu, omnia autorun's a shozu component consuming about 400kb of memory. To disable this component, use a registry editor and go to this path: HKLM\init Look for the name: Launcher140 with the data: \Windows\shozurcp.exe and delete the name/data pair. The "Launcher140" might be different depending on your rom version but the data should be the same. Remember to jot this name/data down somewhere in case you need it again and soft reset your phone
Guest bobobird Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 If one has contacts on the sim card and also in the phonebook, duplicates will appear in the list of numbers in the phonepad. One can filter out the showing of either sim or phonebook contacts in the phonebook but this does not carry over to the phonepad. To disable showing both the sim and phonebook contacts in the dialpad, use a registry editor and change theses setting - HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Phone\ShowSim from 1 to 0 (default = 1) However, the setting is not "sticky" and will be lost after a soft reset.

I see a few other "Launch" keys... obviously most are system-based and are required... but does anyone know what each one does... maybe WinMo 6.1 is somewhat Vista-like in the sense that its launching uneeded services that we can kill, just as with the Shozu key... ?? I'm particularly interested in the low-level Audio adjustments to correct a balance issue due to poor hearing in one ear.
