Guest fenomeno83 Posted September 23, 2008 Report Posted September 23, 2008 (edited) I explain you.. Omnia encode videos at vga(20fps) resolution by software (because hasn't dedicated encode hardware as nokia), but uses only its processor (for this reason htc can't record at vga) With some settings/manipulation I have good feeling with videos now (my old phone was nokia n95) I want help you to get maximum quality from your video (because omnia isn't only a pocket pc as htc, but also a good multimedia device) 1° step upgrade your device for better camera quality 2° step make a defrag in memories (my storage and, if you have, also storage card..use windows xp or a good tool for defrag..no vista) 3° STEP when you make videos, set 640x480 and focus NO in settings 4° STEP for better vision in your omnia, go in windows media player, open a video(no need that is a video recorded by cell)..after go in menù-options-video and delete flag from adapt to window now when you will open videos with touch player, they will be really in full screen and will have a very good vision 5° step for better vision in PC I use a tool studied for video vga cell http://www.rigenerator.com/prove/RIGENERATOR_INSTALLER.exe After installing, put your video in C:\Programmi\Rigenerator-program\rigenerator2\cartella, from menù-smartphone select samsung i900 omnia, click Windows image (on the top-left, under START WIN)and wait encoding (some minutes) at the end you will have a new encoded video in C:\Programmi\Rigenerator-program\rigenerator2\cartella with name "finito.mp4" here some examples: http://www.rigenerator.com/video/17-9-0-45.html http://www.rigenerator.com/video/05-9-11-54.html http://www.rigenerator.com/video/12-9-10-48.html http://www.rigenerator.com/video/18-9-18-1.html http://www.rigenerator.com/video/21-9-18-12.html NB: if you use windows vista, open rigenerator in admin mode 6° step if you don't want lost your time with encoding you can increase a little quality in realtime using this player (better than vlc, because reproduces also audio) http://www.free-codecs.com/download/kmplayer.htm in this player set video(advanced)-postprocessing..quality will be a little deblocked for photos ,with new firmware quality is increased better settings for photos are sharpening +2 and brightness -1 in the night or internal is better use trackpad to don't move too much your phone whan you make photo you can also use antishake setting, in this case photo will be much focused but noise will be higher, but you can easily delete using this videoguide http://www.mediafire.com/?y2fpizmffij Edited September 23, 2008 by fenomeno83
Guest DaZelator Posted September 23, 2008 Report Posted September 23, 2008 Hi Fenomeno83, you're back! Quoting my post #22 in http://www.modaco.com/content-page/271538/...yback/page/20/: Well... Think I found what caused the problem: had to select "Qualità Normale" (normal quality) instead of the default "Alta Qualità" (high quality) or "Insane Quality" (insane quality). Now it's processing the videos indeed. The Omnia selection is also working for Samsung G600 640x480 videos flawlessly! Fenomeno83: Although the processed videos look good, what is the impact of this quality setting on the outcome? What other settings do you recommend to play around with to even further improve the processed videos? Lastly, how can I use Rigenerator to process videos in batch mode (put multiple original videos in one folder, get multiple processed videos in another folder)? Could you please reply to the above? Thanks a lot! Thanks, DaZelator.
Guest psionandy Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 Defraging flash memory is a) pointless as it works differently to disk memory ;) dangerous as it throws a lot of needless write cycles at the memory and can shorten its life. As to the other steps, then they may or may not work... but i'd skip the bit about defragging
Guest pidsw Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 While I agree that defragging solid state is not all that effective, it isn't useless. SD memory is typically read in chunks larger than the minimal addressiable size is and many devices do some speculative prefetching so larger, contiguous files are sligher easier to deal with. As far as writes are concerned, the former part is true, but the latter is not. However sometimes the penalty of writing to storage in units less than the block write size results in a read, modify, write or a specialized small block writing mode which are slower than streamed writes which can often be pipelined. I wouldn't recommend degragging, but I don't think that it is completely pointless and I do think that the solid state within the the omnia can handle a _lot_ of writes without any real risks. One of the most effective ways to defragment your memory is to back it up and format it during your next flash. However this will reduce the life span of your memory a fair bit more than a normal defrag.
Guest Geronymous Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 What I have done to speed up reaction of TouchPlayer (at least it looks like it works), is just move all my music and album art (which was messed up) to my PC and then move it back to the omnia... which nicely puts it back in contiguously.
Guest gavinfabl Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 In the camera settings is anti shake (which I have on) and WDR. What does WDR actually do and should this be on or off?
