Help:

1. Install IGO8

2. Run IGO8

Done! There's nothing to it really...

I installed Igo yesterday. Generally it seems just a case of copying it all over and then clicking the application file. However I ended up using the standard skins and you need to ensure that the data.zip file includes the 400 x 240 resolution (it seems some of the data.zip files don't include this and it won't work without it).

Hope this helps.

Put the files on the root of your storage card (the 2777 and IGO8 directory) and click autorun.exe or do a soft reset.. Installing should begin. After that copy the maps to content(s??) directory. If you have the latest version of IGO (8.0.0.54000 or September), nothing else has to be done (no fidling with the data.zip)

Are you talking about the 'unauthorised' versions here? If so, please note that MoDaCo do not condone, nor allow discussion on the use of pirated software.

If you buy a legitimeate copy of iGO8, simply insert the MicroSD card into the Omnia. It will self install and run. End of story ;)

Can't help with installing software as I've only had my Omnia for a couple of days, but if your clock is changing on connection to your PC, I'd check that you have the same regional settings on the PC as on your phone.

Why would you suggest that? There are some people who buy stuff you know? I'm quite offended by this.. Since when is it a crime to want to put IGO on your internal memory?

Hi,

You need to change the USB Mode within Settings/connections from ActiveSync to MyStorage. Then you can transfer directly the 2 folders needed (2577 and iGO8). But you should be able to see MyStorage through file explorer while your Omnia is connected via ActiveSync.

You need to modify the sys.txt file in the main iGO8 folder so that the program knows where to run from.

For example, my first line of the sys.txt file (SD Card) reads:

[folders]

app="%SDCARD%/iGO8"

so for you to run it from the internal storage, you need to modify this to:

[folders]

app="%MyStorage%/iGO8"

If you are going to reinstall, only change the sys.txt file in the main iGO8 folder in MyStorage. If you already have it installed, you will need to ALSO change the sys.txt file which is located in the program folder.

Hope this helps, been running iGO8 now for over 2 weeks and it beats TomTom hands down (just because i couldn't even get TomTom to get a lock)!!.

Laterz

DF ;)

I apologise for any offence caused, but we have had so many requests for instructions on how to use unauthorised copies of iGO8.

Their T&C explicity state that the software is licensed to the supplied storage card, which is sold as a microSD with MiniSD and Standard adapters. It has to be run from the storage card, though as you are aware, there are some 'tricks' to allow it to be run from Internal Memory, which we are not allowed to discuss in an open forum.

@martin1234: iGO8 should have been supplied on a microSD card with adapters for Mini and Standard. Are you sure you can't extract the microSD from the adapter?

If it is only available on a microSD where did martin1234 obtain his copy?

Just curious.

Yes- iGO6 was supplied on a MiniSD, and iGO8 on MicroSD.

Owners of iGO6 are able to upgrade to iGO8 for €80 and the new software then installs on the old MiniSD card (though not all content fits on the original card, so some swapping out may be needed at times), so it's possible that was the route taken?
