Orange network upgrades?

Has Orange been doing any work to it's network recently?

I used to struggle to get 1 bar of a 3G (3) signal on my Touch Dual up in the Newcastle/Sunderland area, but recently I've found i'm now getting around 3 bar of HSDPA (H) ;)

I'm finding the same thing in the London to Cambridge area- more consistently getting HSDPA over the past few weeks, though office and home still struggling with GSM :wacko:

Although the mast infrastructure is getting better, I'm still finding Orange's data transfer rate to be generally poor to abysmal even when I have a 3 Bar HSDPA signal. May be cell congestion as I'm usually using it on the rush hour trains, but my maximum sustained rate has been around 600kbps (which I suppose is OK) right down to 40kbps, which is what I saw right from Bethnal Green to Cheshunt last Thursday. Got a little better when I was into less populated areas ;)
