In the threaded sms bit, click on the text you have received and it will be highlighted blue. Click Menu .. select forward.

I tried doing that as it is the most intuitive but it doesn't work for my phone/firmware. My solution is to tap on the name of the sender which will open the contact details. Click close/ok and that will bring you back to the sms conversation/thread but with the message highlighted in blue now. Then without tapping anywhere else, click on Menu and Forward. That is the only that works for me.

If your using the standard WM6 sms client then Forward is buried under reply.

So while in the message click Menu then Reply and you will find the forward option buried in there.

when it's threaded, click on the name and hold your finger for about 1 second (not until the submenu pops up) and drag your finger down to the messege. it will highlight the word according to how many lines your finger moves down to. once you release your finger it will have different color on the selected message. then click menu -> forward.
