The issue of scrolling speed and sensitivity of screen

Recommended Posts

Once I played with my HTC-touch-cruise (or whatever other htc-touch things), there is always some values in regedit can change to adjust the sensitivity of screen as well as the rate of scrolling up and down.

However, I just looked around, can't find such similar threshold things.

Any one can give me a hand?

I also think omnia screen sensitivity is poor. one of the worst, comparing to any other model

are you crazy? ;)

omnia has the best sensitive screen in comparison with others resistive touchscreen (not capacitive as iphone)

maybe your rom is old and not good..flashi900DXHI2

I had HP, Palm Clie, Palm Tungsten E, E2, treo 680, Treo 750 e now I have Palm TX and Omnia

And from all above, omnia is the worst.

I am using a screen protector, ... maybe that's what causing it, to be bad...? you think?

The fact is that I have always used screen protectors in those above too!

Unfortunately, I have to tend to agree that the Omnia has a touch screen that is not very sensitive. Do have you the situation where, when you are doing screen alignment, you have to press pretty hard at the "crosses" to get it to accept your calibration point? I wish there is a threshold registry key somewhere like in the HTCs where you can change the sensitivity..

However, through flashing from one rom to another, the sensitivity of screen does change.

What I believe is that it is controllable by editing the reg like other phones...

you guys have any idea on that?

I agree that the sensitivity of the screen is not particularly great on my Omnia. It is a particularly a problem near the edge of the screen (point in case is the Slide-2-Unlock slider). My old gigabyte i300 was much more sensitive. I was wondering if everyone who is having problems is using a screen saver (I certainly am - would hate for my pretty phone to be scratched ;) ).

I went searching for registry edits and found a likely candidate under HKLM\Hareware\Devicemap\touch\Click. I tried a range of values up to 21000 - but didn't seem to make a difference. (though always hard to tell for sure)

Take a look at such apps FTouchFlo, Resco Explorer, SPB Shell etc etc... These apps seem to require less force scrolling, tapping, etc. I seem to remember somewhere in the FTouchFlo (before it became FTouchSL) thread something about LCD screen sensitivity and how to alter registry settings.

This is a great topic I hope one of the gurus can find a hack to tweak it up ;) .

Maybe it really depends on the installed rom, because I use a german one at the moment and the omnia has the most sensitive screen I ever owned.

Omnia's screen is the worst. Hard to use the right scroll bar, unlike my previous HTC Touch.

A good try,man

What I tried is to search for is "pressurethreshold"(one of the entry for HTC touch to adjust the sensitivity), but no luck

I already saw that registry key (for omnia) on a forum, but can't remember which one nor on which topic ;)

I think I tried it once and it seemed to me it worked, however I didn't test any further.

HKLM\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\TOUCH\Click

change it to Hex 250 see if you feel it more responsive. i personally don't feel any different.

Mines WAS at 500 already and it felt goood ;) but I did not know it was at 500 until you said to look. Maybe when I sent my SKTools to optimize everything it set this. I am on HHI2. But now I have set it to 750 and it is blazing. I will test to see if this setting effects anything but 500 was no problem.

Mine WAS at 1280, and i didn't tweak it.

So i guess it is the default value of DXHI2.

But the screen sensitivity is still very bad compared to HTC devices(I owned Diamond and Kaiser).

Hi Everyone...

Can anyone teach me how to to this? I'm not very familiar with these stuffs. Do you use a special program to edit the value?

Dude, this is not IRC or MSN, haha... you don't have to type single words. Just type the entire sentence and click "Add Reply".

Anyway you have to get a registry editor like PHM Registry Editor or something similar. Just do a google search

Total Commander is my tool of choice. It is a basic file explorer, but if your explore the "\\" folder in the root and you will be able to explore the registry (it is just like exploring folders)

I am not convinced that the "Click" settings are the problem. I have changed this quite a few different settings and didn't find any difference.

I have a feelling that the problem is the area over which decides when a click has been made. When i use my stylus (which isn't often) the screen picks up the point quite well. However, when I use my finger it is not good. I tried creating registry entries for "DeltaXCoordTolerance" and "DelaYCoordTolerance" which should effect the region for touch recognition. I read some of the tech documentation which suggested this might fix the problem. However - it did nothing ;)
